Round 5 v Melbourne Storm (Team List)

Greg Alexander was saying on 2UE tonight that he thought Miller was going OK and watching the game against Manly, he, Miller didn't get much ball. He said that Farah was passing straight to Marshall at times missing Miller. I don't know what to make of what Alexander said but gee, I hope that wasn't true.

"Milky (Miller) has been up now for four weeks and he's had some good football up there, but we've decided to send him back to gain a little bit more experience," Tigers assistant coach Royce Simmons said.

So maybe Potter didn't want Miller coming up against Cronk, it wouldn't do his confidence any good would it?

A bit like what Johns said about Reynolds today,
Asked if Reynolds was ready for Origin, Johns told Triple M: "In my opinion, not yet."

While he said Reynolds had the best short kicking game in the NRL, he also pointed out that the dominant Souths pack gave him extra time he might not have in Origin.

"At the moment Adam is playing behind the most dominant pack in the competition, so he has got time and that is why his kicking game has been spot on," Johns explained.

"Look, his kicking game is without peer - and I'm talking Cooper Cronk and I'm talking Johnathan Thurston.

"He has the best short kicking game in the competition but it is on the back of a lot of good go-forward.

If only Miller played behind a dominant pack.

As i said after the last game, Benji played both sides of the ruck against Manly & starved Miller of the ball.

Possibly his way of changing the halves?

I also think if the halves had to change, as des said, i'd have put Moltzen at 7 & tedesco at 1.

Are these actions by Benji cleared by the coach? What hope does any 1/2 have when you are at any time undermined by a dominant 5/8 taking over at any stage in the game. You cant plan, your potential plays are hampered and your confidence plummets. Benji is not just part of the solution for WT, he is also part of the problem.

Absolutely... Benji is obviously talented but his talent is waining and becoming so predictable.
Kinda feel for Miller, its hardly his fault when Marshall is trying to dominate both sides of the ruck.
I cant see Anasta as being the best fit at half for this team. Maybe Moltzen is an option cos he sure aint a fullback.
Might be time to bite the bullett and BRING BACK FITZY......

Its ok to be critical i guess, cos i am most times of the Tigers but lets not forget, Potter never bought these players, he aquired them due to Sheens sacking. Im pretty sure he would never of went out and bought Anasta. And our early season injuries up front have killed us.
He has a pretty accomplished record in SL and im sure he will come good.
Its gonna be a rough year for us, id expect us to finish around 10-14th. Im not expecting much.
I guess the interesting thing to see will be how coach buys for the years ahead.

It may take Potter a year to establish his style of play at the tigers. Similar to Bennett at the knights and getting players he wants and not inherited in his second year.

As a few of you guys have mentioned, Mick Potter inherited this team. He didn't sign up the players or let them go. I understand after 10 years under Tim Sheens, people want change and for things to be done their way. But it's all about balancing and managing a solid team of 17 players.

Mick Potter's strengths as a coach, will be seen once he can make changes to roster.

As much as people hate on Moltzen, and it's for obvious reasons why. But he would more suited to playing half over fullback. James Tedesco, as great of a fullback as he is, he is no winger. I am disappointed he is back on the wing again. He was found out in defence too much against Manly. I wouldn't be surprised if the Storm attack that side again.

Having said that, Melbourne's right side defence as pretty poor last week and if we attack the side of Mahe Fonua we may get points. I have seen some saying it will be 60+, with the talent we have in the squad, there is no reason it should be that. The performance against Manly last week was poor, but in the conditions we were trying to play dry weather footy. That wasn't going to work in the pouring rain. There will be obviously be a better performance this week.

I think Braith Anasta at half won't be so bad, he is a strong ball runner. He has been forgotten about in the second row, where has if he played a similar role to Liam Fulton, he would be a great player at the Tigers. This week is just the second in a string of tough games coming up for us. It's a big test and it's not out of the question we can beat the Storm.

I realise that Potter inherited the team but with that in mind why the hell did we resign Fulton which happened while Potter was the coach? Perplexing.

I don't mind fulton, so long as he's the only small backrower we have. Of all our small back rowers he is the best. Doesn't say much for the rest. Can only hope a fair few are released at seasons end, and we get some beef up front.

Yeah i don't mind Fults.
Ben Murdoch and or Matt Bell never break the line or offload. Shits me.
Did you see the amount of offloads Manly put on us?

I think the main concern with Fulton is that his form seems to have dropped considerably this season and that if that downhill slide continues then how bad is he going to be by the end of his contract with was just renewed. He is missing a lot of tackles now that he would never have missed in the past.

Fulton is fine, if you have one of him. If Fulton played for a manly/souths/dogs he would be awesome as everyone else is big and runs hard, making the meters. Problem is with our tiny and soft pack he is exposed massively and co platelet non effective.
