Reports are they are $1m or so over the cap for next season. So will have a weaker roster but there is still enough garbage teams to push into the 8

What happens in the meanwhile, say for example (because NRL haven't registered their contracts) if Billy decides to stay on a more modest contract. Can that happen ?

There is some comedy gold on there. Some of them get it and I feel for those ones, but some of them are dead set mouth breathers.
It would be tough being a Dogs fan with the horrible times they are going through. They are completely not used to it and unprepared. A mere five years ago they had made the finals 29 from 44 seasons, going back to the mid 70's (in the same period we'd made the finals 11 times). It's their own fault though. The brains trust didn't think they needed to develop talent anymore about a decade ago. What you see now is a direct result of that decision.

I don't think so. I understand Kiks supports his extended family in fiji, helping with his neices, nephews education. Also his aging parents, and his brother and family. (his brother is in a wheelchair)
Poly kids get badly taken advantage of by their parents and family. Giving and helping is nice but they get raped and pillaged

Raped and pillaged, really? The idea of a high earning person supporting their parents and family it’s not unique to any culture. It’s really only some people from highly capitalist countries who would see supporting family as being taken advantage of.

I don't agree. It's just a different culture, with different values and expectations. I think it's wondeful how they support their extended families and community.
Thats fair, I'm not against people doing whatever they like.

(Also taken a few endone for my back, on top of some wine. Probably an inappropriate judgement to make.)

Back pain is horrible. Take care of yourself. I find at times posting after taking my normal S/L tramadol, and the needing a panadeine forte.....can cause some 'weird and wonderful posting' by me. 😂

Many years ago I had a dear friend who was Tongan. (sadly I've lost touch with her) and I learnt heaps about Tongan culture. So very different from western culture.

Anyway Smug hope you get some relief from the back pain.

Kiks turned 27 today, the contract he signed will take him into his 30s and after that who knows how long he is going to play on, he could go well into his 30s but this contract was probably going to be the biggest of his career and he’s probably well past the half way mark of that career by next season. Hard not to see why he took the big money, he’s shy and awkward in front of the cameras so a media job is likely out of the question and probably coaching as well. Whether he’s supporting 200 or 2 people he still has to think about life after footy.

Anyway while i have read about some rich athletes being taken advantage by family I’ve seen far more examples of rich athletes being f**ked over by managers, financial advisors etc.

Elijah Taylor is the perfect example of that.
