I don't mind Copley, he isn't as bad as some would like to think.

Agreed. Im not his biggest fan either but he does cop(ley) a lot of shit thats not throurly deserved.

He finished some try's very well last year, but a few handling errors let him down, which most of you guys want to hang him for.

I would have preferred Gagai myself as I believe he has the potential to be even better than Yow Yeh but I'm not kicking the cat because of Copley.

Happy to see Gillett starting, hopefully he makes a big impact.

Imagine if Copley had an account on here, and he checked in to see the reaction to the announcement that he was playing...

I just think everyone was excited and expected to see Dane play. He is the sort of player that put asses on seats.
Hopefully I can catch him this weekend to see whatup.

Exactly, no one is going to see Copley drop the ball and bomb tries. Surely Dane has to be the long term option when Beale leaves. God I hope it's not Copley.

Tbh I haven't seen Copley play this year except for the trial in Redcliffe. Can't imagine he is going better than Gagai. Poor choice imo, but Griffin must have his reasons???

Gillett to start I think is good.

I hope Copley proves all you doubters wrong, I really do

he isn't THAT bad, I think Griffin wants the solid winger as opposed to the enigma and I know he's had his bad games and bad errors in big games but now is the time for him to show us he's learnt from that

alot of people could be left with egg on their faces if he comes good

The thing is most of us are only angry because we think Gagai is going to be the better long term option. We don't just need a solid winger, we aready have a solid centre in Reed inside him. Gagai can mix it up a bit. I don't care if he goes good, I just don't want him to hold the spot over Gagai.

Copley played 17 games last year including 3 finals. I didn't think he played that many games TBH. Give him a shot this year and if he doesn't perform it is time for Gagai.

Copley isn't THAT bad sure, but Gagai looked better in the trials, and Copley still hasn't seemed to be able to get the errors out of his game. He dropped another sitter on his own 20 in the trial against the Tits, while Gagai made a screamer of a break down the sideline that put Brisbane back on the attack.

Copley getting selection based on experience and game time doesn't make sense. Gagai is either really splattering the bowl, or has pissed off Hook somehow.

meh. Not really to suprised by this, not really that disappointed either, Copley will do a job for the team and hopefully get it done, yes he made a few mistakes last year but he is still young and learning first grade. Give him time, i'm sure Gagai will get his shot in the near future.

Everyone lay off him and at least let him play a couple of games before you start getting on his back.

You never know this may be as a result of Dane being sick and losing a couple of Kilo's which can make a difference when going into tackles and making tackles.

and only a "solid" halfback inside him........:sarcasm:

I was looking forward to seeing Gagai play again. I thought I read somewhere that he's bulked up considerably from last year.

None the less, Griffin is the coach

and he's done nothing yet that makes me think he's an idiot.

Gagai's time will come. For now......we have Copley.

Go the Broncs.......kick the Merge's arses !!

Copley is quality, strong quick and really well positioned in attack, he will prove you wrong. since 2010 he's scored 30 tries in 21 nyc games, freakish by anyone's standards and has scored 9 tries in 19 games in the nrl, which is still good.

Good on ya Diddi.....
I love it when someone lets the facts get in the way of a good argument :)

Like most of us I was expecting Dane to get a run and like most of us I have some bad memories of Copleys humdingers but the reality is that..
A. Hook knows his shit and I for one am prepared to go with his call until the opposite proves his call to be a poor one.
B. Neither player has had a run yet on the big stage so none of us are in a position to second guess Hook --> (see item A.)

All I really care about is how much I hate St. Merge and how I walk on the clouds for weeks when we beat them and how I feel like hiding in a dark room for even longer when they beat us.

Knocking them off last season made everything so much sweeter for me so whether Dane or Dale do the job on Friday night all that matters is that we beat those strawberry and cream ponces....

BRONCOS!!!!!!!

Copley gets a bad wrap for the Prelim last year, but when the pressure isn't so high, he'll get back into form. At least, I hope he does.

Watching the highlights of Norths/Mackay it looked like he had a mixed game.

Scored a try, had a hand in two others but his side of the field conceded 4 tries, including one that was directly on him.

What? Copley will have played 24 1st grade games on Friday night. That's basically a season under his belt. If that's not getting a run on the big stage yet then I don't know what is.
