I was at the game yesterday in the northern stand, if there was a crowd of 8000 there it certainly didnt feel like it, to be expected playing Titans. Anyway onto the good stuff, we won, there were some nice touches, nice try's. The bad stuff, the amount of unforced errors we made, the missed tackles from broken play, I couldnt believe the try they got from the kick off, we had a lot just ball watching. Our youngsters looked good, it looked like TC and CT were limping before the game started, with the amount of strapping TC had on him, it just didnt look good. I really feel its time to rotate a few more youngsters through the team. As for Lawrie well it looked like he did his job but I wonder if someone else would have more of an impact. We can only play whats in front of us and we won, so happy there, I'm still in limbo as to where we might end up next week, but my weekend for now is in a happier state.

Lawrie - 22 minutes 9 runs for 100m, 32 post contact. That’s all he needs to do if he’s going to play.

I know the team can be a source of great frustration at times but bloody hell, some of you guys need to learn to enjoy a win. It's only a game of football after all. We should all be charging in to the weekend with a spring in our step and looking forward to wiping the floor with the pretenders from Brookvale next Thursday.

Go the Dragons!

First up I’m just happy they got the win. A bit puzzled by some of the gloomy comments I read last night after the game. Take the win. They don’t have to be pretty.
I’m going to interrupt normal transmission by making the rare concession that Lawrie was solid / good. Not great, but that was a vast improvement on the turds he usually dishes up. Unfortunately that will probably mean he gets picked again and he’s still the weakest link in the forward pack.
Luc is better used off the bench. Such a frustrating player. Amazing ball skills. Consistently inconsistent.
Our attack has actually been pretty good all year, and was nice to see some good tries scored.
Egan, Stewart and Couchman were all excellent - there’s a theme there - young, keen, mobile.
KF improved performance.
Gutho was such a good purchase. Maybe a bit slower than the young Gutho but geez he makes up for it with effort and consistency.
Nice to have a classy centre for the first time since 2010 / 11. Holmes was good. Suli a mixed bag but the good stuff was very good. He seems to have more try assists this year?
Klemmer is doing a job. Nothing amazing but he eats up the metres consistently. Happy with him so far.

On the other side of the ledger, geez we’re a dumb football team. Dumb penalties. Dumb captains challenges. Dumb handling errors. Somehow Flanno really needs to fix this. I think the 60 minute performances stem from the fact that they’re gassed by the 60 minute mark because they’ve spent large chunks of time defending dumb errors.
The Cook / Liddle rotation still isn’t right, something Flanno admitted during the week - Cook is quite effective in the first half, not so much in the second. We definitely fall apart structurally during this transition.
I want the Ilias thing to work, but I’m just not sold. A nice try assist, kicking was ok but I just don’t think he offers much. I hope he proves me wrong but I’m not seeing it.
We seriously could have been 4 - 1 going into next round - that’s very frustrating.

So folks, what are we going to dish up next week? Lemons or lemonade?

Tough v Manly next week.
Win 1 of the next two amd that will be ok for me .
But the Chooks lifting last night might be a tough ask on Anzac Dsy also.

Too many silly errors in first half.
I thought if we held the ball early we be up more ,when we did we scored.
We are giving teams too many tackles in our 20.
Last two Titams tries disappointed me.

I'm generally not into bagging players or anyone else (old Catholic schoolboy I guess - maybe after a few too many). So, here goes:

I suspect Lawrie has been carrying an injury for a while and is finally getting back to full fitness. I actually think Ilias has been OK. He's good in defence and the halves combination is improving. I've always considered Kyle to be quite a skillful player. I think Sloan has great talent which is best cultivated on the wing. He was advanced to 1st grade far too early and, to his credit, he's taken the criticisms on the chin and listened to the coaches. I think he'll get there.

We have two very different types of players on our wings, neither being the acrobats that people get ecstatic about, but they both get across the line. I don't mind 'unfashionable'. Dare to be different.

I like that we are attacking both sides of the field. I'm seeing some nice passing movements.

We're certainly a different type of footy side but I believe were genuine competitors, on an improving trajectory, with a lot of talent coming through the grades.

I agree Luc is better off the bench, but he gets paid 'starting money'. He either lifts his work rate, takes a drop in pay or gets moved on.

Tremendous showing by each of the lads , the effort they put in would had made that angry beggar Flanagan quite happy.

The Dragons thoroughly deserved their beers after the match . In is good to see them competing with the opposition on a more regular basis .

Luc off the bench is a must after what I saw last night, he was a real positive impact which surprised me because I don’t have a high opinion of him mainly because he is more cold than hot and he is undisciplined. His big issue is putting good performances together consistently, and next Thursday we are up against a team with some gun forwards…we need Luc to keep firing.
