Keep the mistakes down..no dumb penalties. Play smart footy and make them.bring it deep out of their own end and get back to grinding teams down..

Hopefully we see a drastic improvement this week
That’s my starting side, but I think Garner and Trent are injured.

Last year was the only year he missed a game of a series.

His 2nd last game in 2022. He was Man of the Match in a 44-12 win.

I am sure in a 32 point win, His defence and the whole defence was pretty good.
Long long time ago. I suspect he's been protecting his shoulder.

He hasn't been any good since he injured his pec, except for last season's finals. Which shows he is capable still. The interview during the week, when Nathan was asked if he gets angry during a match and gives team mates a spray, was pretty telling. He said it depended who it was, and whether they'd take it positively or not. I think Tago might be mentally fragile and they have to be careful how they handle him. Dropping him might break him. But at this point he's such a liability that doesn't matter any more. When the opposition run straight through him and score early in every match, the whole teams moral drops.
Very much agree with this. I think the coaching staff are much more competent than some of the noisier posters on here.

It's a good roster. Long term I'd like to see Cole become a well rounded 14. Jack of all trades master of none he's already got a reasonable skill set but clearly won't be the best in a position.

So your reasoning is that because Ivan dropped one player he should also drop another player. How stupid.

Well no if you could read old man.

What I said was:

The right has issues last year, Ivan decided to drop a player for a few weeks. The issue was fixed in time for the finals.

That player who was dropped has now left we have the same issues, that same fix might have the same outcome

As opposed to the method of sticking your head in the sand and pretending it doesn't exist

It is hard with someone that who is always moving around to get better in one position but it is a 17 man game. So being a bench guy is part of the NRL

The genuine utility is coming back I to the game. Watson played origin for it.

HIA rules make it too important.

Some tinkering required. Either with having an extended bench or relaxing the rules around the 18th man and its usage.

I've got another wacky rule. Player gets binned (E.g. Cleary) and you let someone come on to take his place. Everyone will see the obvious problem with that but losing the best player in the game for 10 minutes replaced by Jack Cole is a massive punishment. Too often sin bins are catastrophic and in many cases end the game. Most teams can't deal with 12 on 13 and too many coaches are calling it out for it not to be looked at.

there should be a 5 min sin bin rule -some high shots should warrant sin bin time but 10 mins is too long (punishment doesnt fit the crime) - it would make 10 min sin bins more warranted when required

but NRL refs are consistently inconsistent so dont bother

today's bee in my bonnet (has been stewing all week) - what was the difference between Tuipulotu's try against Parra and Leota's try against Souths a week earlier? - both were the same action

Chris Butler has been in the Bunker for a couple of our games. I think it was the same ref. Ivan called out last year QF v Sharks for the obstruction no try. Pay back probably.

Ironically, I think Jacks best (starting) position may end up being halfback. He seems to be a half who likes structure and organising but isn't a naturally talented ball player/Runner.

I think with time he'd be a very good 14. Gives good coverage - in the halves, and in the centres. If he fills out in the next 2-3 years could even do a bit of Backrow just like Salmon did for us.

Long long time ago. I suspect he's been protecting his shoulder.

This is precisely why throwing Nathan on a 1.3m a season 10 year deal is a MASSIVE risk for us. People who are suggesting anything like it are either crazy or massive 'gamblers'.

He is 27 and has had some significant injuries, some reoccuring. Big money and huge duration for a player who is injury prone, and one injury away from severe impairment/Retirement.
