I thought Edwards was one of our best in an incredibly weak field. Ran the ball back well, got us into the grind in that first half. Alamoti was good too, sin bin was very harsh.
The biggest problem was our edges. Getting carved up so easily when the game was in our control in the first half is poison for a side that wants to win like we do. Tago was poor (and I'm coming around to the idea of him going backrow), but Casey and Jenkins really showed what having too many Cup level players in your side can do at this level. Just awful performances from both. Kepaoa may not be the answer, but he 100% deserves a shot over either of them.
It looks like there might be something going on behind the scenes. Both Martin and Yeo were taken off late in the second half when the game was technically in the balance. Martin in particular looks a shadow of the player he can be, so either he had an injury or Ivan's had enough of him phoning it in as our season collapses.
It can't be easy for a team who has been so dominant to process what is happening right now, so I wouldnt be surprised if there was some serious strain culturally at the moment. Sadly, I think this gets worse before it gets better.
Edges were quite poor. They looked under pressure and aren't equipped to handle it right now. You just wish we had Luai on one side taking care of it and Cleary on the other.
Nathan Cleary with his experience needs to figure it out here. Andrew Johns said that he needs to dumb down the approach. Quite prophetic after watching tonight's performance. It was glaring that we lacked game management in that second half.
