The hunger is gone. I reckon it was going last year and they battled for a lot of games during the season. That was masked in the finals where they went up a level.

A valid point.
Decline can happen gradually and suddenly. Or just suddenly.
Apart from toweling up the Sharks and Saints last year, we won most of our games during the regular season -in an ugly grind.
The signs were there last year with senior players going through the motions during the year. Tago should have been pulled up last year. Given a rocket.
We weren't as good as the 23 team last year and nowhere near the zenith of our success- The 22 team. We have not only come back to the pack we have tripped and fallen down the mountain to base camp.

I digress.
In the past we have replaced Crichton, Api, Kikau etc and gotten away with it. Had class in other positions to still be good enough.
Luai, Turuva and Fish's replacements have not been up to it. Or in Talagi and Casey's case - not ready. The depth in other areas is also lacking. Six games in - the club hasn't gotten the balance right. The roster needs refreshing.
It would have been nice to have a Royce Hunt or Guler off the bench this season, instead retaining Huth in the top 30. I understand money is a factor, but we had options after Fish left. Time will tell if I Pap and Talagi will come good.

There are other factors. Some one percenters. Sometimes that is the difference.
It is still a top roster 8 compared to the other mid-table sides in the NRL. Makes it so frustrating when we are playing like a bottom 4 team.

You need to define successful.

At this point making the 8 is a success considering our start.
Finals is a successful year full stop in my opinion. The fact we have had a 5 year premiership window is f**king outstanding. It’s amazing we’ve managed to win 4 premierships. That is overachieving I don’t care what anyone says to expect a premiership each year is insanity. To hope for one on the other hand is normal. Melbourne and the Roosters have had f**king stacked squads and the best either have managed is 2 in a row.
They were a special team. Over the cap? Maybe but the post-origin slump was their kryptonite.

I read this morning they lost 8 straight in 2003 coming into the finals against us. They did a good job to have the lead at halftime but we ran away with it.
Yep 97,98, 2000 - I hate the broncos but there is no denying they were outstanding. I honestly think this reset year or gap year or whatever it is we are in now is a necessary evil. f**k maybe we go on a run and make the 8 and do damage in the finals. I think that is hope talking though.

I still love the team as do all the posters here - I think that’s why there is so much passion and many are showing it in their own way on this forum. Yep I’m guilty of being negative. I’m guilty of being positive. We all love the panthers.

Worst thing about this losing streak is I'm not getting my free Grill'd burger every monday.

More seriously though we looked cooked.

Finals might be a possibility, another premiership seems like a pipedream.

I think it's important that everyone within the club adjust there expecations of what we can achieve this season so we can focus on having the right conversations about what action to take so this is a short term ditch and not a long term chasm in performance.

The only time Martin is sighted in a Penrith jersey is in finals.

So if we do scrap in, We are a chance but that is way way off at this point

The best part is that it isn't even over yet. It just looks like right now we aren't going to make it to the big one. But if any team can do it from this position it's our team.

I don't have any time to dictate to other fans how they vent or celebrate after a match. I've met some almost volatile fans who are extremely dramatic after a loss yet pour more money into the club via tickets and membership than any other fan I've met.

As I said issues are players 21-30 in the squad.

Flegg and to a lesser extent NSW Cup ( The non top 30 guys ) are stacked but most can't play because of guys not up to NRL standard being the depth

No consistency on the edges and in the spine. No genuine time spent with players inside shoulder and outside shoulder.

Edwards
To’o
Tago
Garner
Alamoti
Schneider or Laurie
Cleary

Kenny hk

if they can get 3/4 games in a row with that backline and spine they’ll be right.

Laurie is better attacker than Cole.
Schneider is better defender than Blaize.

Schneider can see the game better than Cole.
Laurie is more elusive than Blaize.

However Cole = Schneider in attack and Blaize = Laurie in defence.
Schneider can see the game better than Cole. He is a f**king hack with no vision at all.
