Unlucky tonight lads, did well to hang in there. I think the key is patience, it took us a while in 2009 before we got used to what Bennett wanted, he said constantly as long as u get ur defense right in the early rounds the attack will come later on. From what I have seen the knights defense has been pretty good so the attack will follow, anyways good luck for the rest of the year hopefully we meet in the finals :)

F**k! Frustrating much. I think it was easier to watch last year, and we played better last year.

Some weeks our line speed is amazing, other weeks its terrible, what's the dealy yo?

I think Mullo misses Gids. He can inject himself less with more quality when Gids is at half, but with Roberts Mullo takes too much responsibility and basically plays halfback.
Plus I think he's been targeted in defense too, not because he will miss tackles (as has been talked about everywhere in last few weeks) but it tires him out, so he will not be as energetic in attack.

Kicking the ball dead just shows how little the opposition rates our forward pack. I think we'll be seeing a lot more teams using that strategy against us this year.

I think that's exactly right.

We need Mason. Even if he doesn't play to a high standard, he'll offer size.

8. Mason
9. Bedsy
10. Snowden
11. McKinnon
12. House
13. Costigan

14. Roberts (Kidley will go to half)
15. Faas
16. Tui
17. Taia

I brought this up after round 2. I was told he was a prop and was never quick!!!!!! f**k me.

He is fast enough but looks slow due to his long gait. Much like Civo does

2 words for last night: Ball control. We had no respect for the pill and it cost us field position and ultimately the game. Our pack got belted around but we gifted the Dragons possession in our own half way too many times.

Our goal line defence was really good though, You could see the frustration on the Dragons players faces when they just couldnt push through.

Refereeing was awful. The amount of times both sides were infront of the kicker yet only we got pinged for it and the call to deny Taias try were killers.

Cheers mate. I hope you're right about that. Usually I'm pretty positive after a loss but jeez it's hard to after a game like that. The refs were about equally terrible for both sides as well so that certainly didn't help things as a spectacle.

The Dragons line speed was terrific and they were dominating us on almost every hit-up which must be a concern for our forwards. I thought the Dragons were allowed to lie on the tackle pretty much as long as they wanted which helped with this as well.

There is nothing wrong with our backs IMO. Boyd is still playing a bit average but I have no doubt he will get there, our try showed what we will be able to do when we are on song. If anything they don't get enough ball but I guess that's part of our more conservative gameplan. Unfortunately on a night like last night when your fowards are getting dominated every hit-up, it results in zero attacking potency. Our forwards, while (mostly) all very good players individually, do not provide enough impact, creativity or aggression as a unit.

I don't like to pinpoint individual guys for the sack very often but Hilder just doesn't look effective any more. I also struggle to see what Cutherbertson provides except the odd decent offload. Perhaps he would make a better backrower than prop? Maybe we should give one of the young guns a crack against the Panthers, I can't see how they could do much worse than those two.

I also think we can probably only carry one out of Costigan and Houston in the starting backrow as well. Most other backrows have an impact-type player eg. a Mateo who offers more than just being a tackle machine. The closest we have to this is Taia which just isn't good enough really.

Any people still think Beau Scott was a bad signing? He chewed up our boys and spat them out last night.

So really, it boils down to the fact that Bennett has improved our defence markedly, but our attack is a lot more conservative and less adventurous than it has been in the past. Add to this the fact our main attacking structures are yet to gel and get any sort of consistency, and it results in what we are currently dishing up - boring but ineffective, and a bit depressing, footy. All that being said, I am not all doom and gloom and am confident we will turn it around. That's just the situation as I currently see it.

He's just slow. Petero shits on him.

Snowden is the absolute least of our problems TBH. In fact he is not a problem at all.

In the end they were running over the top of us. Our goal line defence is good but that is about it. There is no organisation in attack. Players are getting the ball at the wrong time or they over running the play. Even that play that lead to the try, Sau almost smashes into Boyd.

Ok, because I checked the NRL website and he made 57 ARM, 6 missed tackles (the highest) and 26 tackles. So an average game from Snowden last night.

Agree with Snowden being the least of our troubles. If anything we shouldnt even be mentioning his name as to why we lost last night. Snowden had an off game last night but since round one hes been the engine in our go forward. I'd hate to see where our team would be without him.

It was an average game from him, but as JW said, if you look at his stats from the past 4 games or so he has been putting in big metres

Joker we all know he is a good prop. He's definitely not in the top bracket though. That is plain for all to see. He is capable of big minutes and therefore big stats and he is a must have in a prop rotation for any side. We just don't have anyone decent to complement him.... and he is slow! (Apologies, I couldn't help that)

St George simply shut down our forwards by shutting down Snowden. From his very first hit up he was smashed by Hunt and nearly every hit up after that he had 2-3 players tackling him as soon as he got the ball. You could tell it was a deliberate game plan from the Dragons and their players carried it out perfectly.

Without Snowden getting our sets rolling we had no other forwards capable of pulling up their sleeves and providing any impact or go forward.
