Round 7 vs Roosters

Yes made way for Lomax
SO how many Teams carry a specialist winger on their interchange?
I agree with Lomax starting and he totally justified his selection IMO.
Why didn't McGregor make the hard decision and drop Ravalawa to Reserve grade and play a better option on the bench. Robson being the obvious choice followed by Timm and Kerr???
That's what I'm talking about.

Re the question of speed.
Tedesco makes a break and Lomax and Dufty reeled him in so the slomax theory (love your work gitano) is a myth
Pereira makes a break and looked slow and Ravalawa even slower and in fact if he had of been closer to Pereira it would have almost certainly been a try as Tedesco would have had to commit a lot quicker than he did.
Ravalawa looked like a battleship trying to gain some momentum going into a raging sea.

People will sugar coat our loss and in the meantime Roosters will get s kick in the arse and have a tough week due to their win.
We will work hard on the explanations and reasons for the loss and they will work hard on the mechanics.
Simple errors, bad technique and a shit house bench with an even poorer rotation (Latimore on at a crucial stage ffs) killed our chances and will always do so.
Hunt went up the tunnel, yet looked ok when he was on the field at full time so not sure what that was all about but I hope he doesn’t need done tuff pills.

Seriously OT - you're making excuses for the Roosters. Why? Why make excuses for the other team? It's always about the other team not playing well, or some distraction or some other reason we win or lose. Never about anything we do.

Yes we played poorly in the first half, and didn't execute well in the second. But we were the better team in the second half. Not sugar coating at all, just acknowledging that the team, up against the best team in world, made them work for that win. In my eyes, we've got work to do, but it also told me we aren't doing too badly at the moment.

We still have a lot of improving to go
Can we though? Been waiting for that improvement going on 8 years now... It seems we very rarely put on an 80min performance, and rarely grab big games by the balls barring the first semi last season.
Either way, proud the lads didn't roll over on such an important day, and fired all their cylinders in that 2nd half.

Some observations:

1. If Grant Atkins is a first grade referee I'm a pumpkin
2. If Cummings is a senior referee I'm a double pumpkin
3. The Roosters are not that invincible as some may think.
4. We had multiple opportunities to ice that game, Hunt, Vaughan, Rava/JP, all should have scored or gone close to us scoring.
5. I've been on the side of Rava, but today proved to me he isn't ready for the heat of a major game. If, for example JP break and Pearson was on his outside, then its shut the gate.
6. Following from point 5, Pearson should be in the team next week.
7. Again following on from point 5, if JP doesn't pass and throws the dummy he would have gone close to scoring himself, needs to back himself more.
8. Latimore has to go, when we needed drive and line breaks he just plodded up to the defense, he was also very slow in getting back onside.
9. Dufty, for all his speed and agility for scoring try's his general security from the bomb and bringing the ball back are going to cost us more games than he will win with his speed.
10. Luch and Lawrie where were they in the last 10 mins, please don't tell me McGregor burnt our last interchange on a winger.

Expecting some changes for our next game, lets hope the coaching staff see it too. It's a 10 day turn, so hopefully Hunt will be ok to play.

- Graham caught with the ball on the last or in the half back's position

Once - and that was just after Hunt left the field. Lomax wasn't in position given he had just been informed he needed to go to the halves.

Rava and Pereria screwing up a very strong chance for a try down the side line

This was one of about 4 bombed tries. JP needed to hold the pass longer. As he passed early, he gave the Roosters an easy opportunity to cover Rava.

Luciano trying his guts out to crack the line and no one backing up for an offload

This happens every game. Not just with Luciano. There does need to be more support.

There is a chance the Roosters fall a bit flat after getting up for the game last week against the Storm. Their second half was way down on their first half.

grasping at any glint of hope for today. Give it to them like its 2010!
Don’t think “flat” ended up being applicable today...
