As I have said mate, I don’t think wholesale sackings are the answer.

If we want wholesale sackings to shake things up, then perhaps bring in Kepaoa, Patea, Geyer, Toulau I’m not sure who else is viable.

Most have made there mind up about Maverick Geyer, not being up to NRL, but I wouldn’t be disappointed if he got a run of games of the bench in place of Garner or Sorenson. He’s younger , fit, has been going well in Cup maybe just give him a crack. Just give him the licence to rip in and if he sees an offload let him play heads up.
I would support Mav getting a bench spot.
Garner is fine he just needs to start at second row.
Hmmm. We are low on options. He needs to cut out the dumb penalties from his game though.

Ivan won't play Garner despite being our best backrower last year
I think Luke Garner has done well for us, better than initially suspected.

He‘ll be 30 by seasons end I think he’ll be someone who will be moved on in our roster restructure.

Yeah I can see that. Mav could take role if good enough but I don't think he is. The other one is Tago but he's too expensive to play on the bench.

How the hell is Garner getting pulled into this. Blokes been tremendous for us despite never being given a consistent run at a position.

Got to be at centre this week imo.

I think most agree he has been tremendous but it’s a business managing the salary cap and my opinion only we’re going to have to fast track the likes of Billy Phillips, Harry Armstrong and Delahia Wigmore of the back rowers coming thru. We have to create a pathway for them or we lose them and these back rowers have NRL written all over them. I can see him being sacrificed in a significant turnover of players to start the process of a rebuild.

Martin to prop is the pathway, should have happened already. If he doesn't want to play prop he can leave. He simply doesn't deliver often enough.

I’m not sure using him as a battering ram will give us what you hope for.

I don’t necessarily disagree he is providing value for money though.

On a week to week basis there are many, many back rowers amongst our competitors who are delivering better outcomes, particularly some of the much larger Polynesian boys. Line breaks, tackle busts, off loads there are definitely significant others in the game who are more destructive.

His best is amazing but I can't remember seeing it outside rep or finals footy. And no I don't expect him to be that mad man every week but we should see it once a month at least.

Liam is a tremendous competitor, competes on every play, but he’s not your wrecking ball wide runnnig b@ck rower with an off loads. Ringing wet with sweat he might get to 100kg but the big, fast mobile kikaus and the like wide of the ruck seem to be a necessity to put defences in two minds As well as making clear line breaks. Ideally, I think one of your two main wide operating back rowers need the attributes of size, speed, tackle busts and the ability to break the line. We need to unearth one and or buy one in the next season or two to reinvent our attack.

Garner is fine to hang around for another couple of years - that left edge rower should be his starting with Sorro off the bench to provide cover and prop relief - reality is Sorro is getting older and likely to go England - we should already be transitioning Sorro out of this team

Garner runs good lines as back rower which we desperately need as Martin and Sorro rarely offer this, decent footwork as well.

Garner still has miles we can use - limited minutes on the bench is wasted. Use him as the level headed senior edge forward until the likes of Hassett, Armstrong etc make their way to grade (unless Mav finds another level which is unlikely)

Dylan Edwards is one of my favourite Panthers players ever, I think his contribution to our success has been enormous and in some discussions not recognised enough.

At the same time, given in my opinion, we are entering into a rebuild regardless of how this season unfolds, the Dylan Edwards situation will be interesting.

Resigned long term after 2023 rewarded with a four year extension he is contracted till the end of 2028. I’m not sure his body will last thru till 2028 and while he will continue to be the best defensive fullback in the game, there will be valid discussions about whether he can perform at the same level given his injury record and toll on his body.

There are discussions already in media circles promoting to return of ‘Teddy’ to the State of Origin arena. Laurie Daley was obviously non committal on the Big Sports Breakfast Show this morning but I get the feeling we might see the return of Teddy and our clubs poor form will work against Dylan. Be interesting, for Dylan to retain his spot I think we have to start winning games which will obviously help Dylan.

That’s fine and I fully understand but at the same time your views largely undervalue the contribution of Dylan Edwards to five consecutive grand finals with a four peat. We couldn’t have achieved such success without Dylan despite this notion about being his lack of ball playing ability. 75% or more of the current NRL fullbacks rely either on power or pace with ball playing thrown in as a bonus. You say miles ahead but that fails to recognise stopping tries, cleaning up at the back, doing the hard yards is equally as important. Turbo doesnt do the defensive side of the fullback role anywhere close to Dylan, neither does any other fullback currently. There is no fullback in the game who can be involved in a tackle on one side of the field and magically turn up and be involved in a tackle in the other corner. No one, not one. He doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

Edwards did what most thought wasn't possible after 2019 and he deserves all the credit in the world but turbo is the better fullback easily. Adding turbo to our 2022 team would've been a war crime.

No one disagrees with Dylans actual attributes, just it gets pointed out he isn't a great ball player. I dont know how that equates to him not being one of the best fullbacks in the game, everyone acknowledges what he is great at.

Did you read my post in its entirety.

The better fullback ‘easily’ is perhaps the most disingenuous and disrespectful comments imaginable.

It’s fails the common sense test, it really does.

We wouldn’t have made 5 consecutive grand finals with Turbo.
