I haven’t seen a benchmark yet. Could be the closest season in this past six seasons. But we’re are not the benchmark, we may well improve but we are certainly not the benchmark based in the first rounds.

It feels like a worse version of 2024. You are right no one standing out.

What is still evident is that when we play the top teams we win the football game. We are just finding it really hard to get up each week (Especially against the non-fancied teams).

The Melbourne loss was not too different from our loss to them at home last year. In both games the majority of fans felt like we came out of it with more positives.

We've stuffed our start to the season but we have Manly and Brisbane. Teams that have been touted as contenders. If we flop hard against these guys I'll take Penrith down a peg. If we don't then it just feels like deja vu.

it's impossible to make balanced judgement's about players when you continually add in an internal bias against an individual player.

chins, you've already made up your mind, so why bother even having a discussion.
Quite the opposite I'm by far the most honest on here. Every time Tago actually plays well I say it.
Some people just refuse to admit things to themselves

We are two wins off third place. Long season to go.

if we go two out of four in the Origin impacted rounds we can still make top 4. Those games are Knights (weekend before Origin) and Parra (x2) and Warriors after Origin. Sucks we play Parra twice in 6 weeks and both come 4 days after an Origin match.

Not too bad. Both Nathan and Moses will be out I'd say

The Origin period is a really interesting one. Will be good thread talk once we get to our bye round in 4 weeks which will essentially be halfway through the season.

The Warriors one you'd think would be a loss being an away game. I'm expecting 0 players to back up. Moses and potentially Lomax out for the Eels. The Knights shouldn't have Ponga and potentially others.

I have seen most other teams have their outside backs, halves and bench players back up after Origin even on Friday night games. Sometimes even their 2nd rowers if they play their games on Saturday Night/Sunday.

I expect Moses and Lomax to be IN unless they cop injuries.

Yes he has. When he came into grade he used to belt merkins
Right… which is putting pressure on his entire edge… yet, you’re not calling for his head.

Both of our edges have been failing all year, which tells me it’s a team issue. Just out one player rarely fixes that, unless your brining in an elite player who is better.

I get where you are coming from with Tago, but from what I see, it’s a team issue, when the team is humming, like they were during the finals last year, Tago is playing centre for us….

Tago has only just turned 23. He has plenty of good footy ahead of him.

When the blokes inside him get it right he is fine. When he left with having to make decisions on overlaps he struggles as do most centres. Its the most difficult spot to defend.

We were blessed with critta as he almost alwats came up with the right call and is by far and away the best defensive centre in the game.

Tago isnt critta. He needs the team amd structures working for him to do well in defence.

As weve seen in big games when the teams humming tagos defence is rock solid.

Look I know a lot of coaches do it. Even ours has done it plenty of times. I've been against it for a while due to the workload on and off the field.

That Warriors game though. Three days after Origin II. Its a flight overseas. We are absolutely pushing it having players back up for that one.

Origin I and III we play the Eels twice as Coldwetpanther mentioned before. Both games are at home and with the longest layoff (Wednesday to Sunday at four days). If you are going to do it (Backup) then target those matches strategically. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that is Ivan's plan even with our terrible start to the season.

Tago rushes out of the line. That creates the gap
