Round 8 vs Tigers

The whole backline stands really flat. If they stood deeper they could at least be halfway through gaps with a bit of speed.
A fair bit of criticism about not giving our backs early ball in space comes down to that.
Yes unfortunately compared with the better sides our whole team stands flat.......as I pointed out the other day as good as Hunt is playing for us (especially lately) he does far to many one handed dummies to himself..we get set for a quick sweeping backline movement then he bungs one of these on and it pulls the whole timing and shape out of whack and gives the opposition time to slide in defence....just my opinion but it really pisses me off tbh

The following is what concerns me:-

"Wests Tigers will be eager to improve on their strong record in Wollongong, with the club winning four of their five clashes at WIN Stadium.
The two joint-ventures have met on forty occasions, with both sides coming out victorious in twenty matches each".

Match: Dragons v Wests Tigers

We have got to break the deadlock and get a win ahead of the Tigers. Being beaten by them 4 out of 5 games at WIN isn't a good record for us and they now have 2 former Dragons players in Hastings and Leilua in their team to make things worse.

Our game against the Roosters was a tough one with injuries to Su'a and Bird and Suli was limping a fair bit after the game as well. I hope that they can produce what they did against the Roosters but with a bit more attacking flair and more aggression in defence.
We win this game and we will be in the mix of a host of teams in the 8 with a bigger game the following week against the Storm.

Are you sure Hard Yards about Bird is cleared to play? Fox Sports News says differently as per the following:-

St George Illawarra Dragons vs Wests Tigers at WIN Stadium, 4.05pm

Dragons team
: 1. Moses Mbye 2. Mathew Feagai 3. Moses Suli 4. Zac Lomax 5. Mikaele Ravalawa 6. Jack Bird 7. Ben Hunt 8. Francis Molo 9. Andrew McCullough 10. George Burgess 11. Tariq Sims 12. Josh Mcguire 13. Jack de Belin 14. Talatau Amone 15. Blake Lawrie 16. Aaron Woods 17. Tyrell Fuimaono 18. Tautau Moga 19. Jackson Ford 20. Josh Kerr 21. Tyrell Sloan 22. Cody Ramsey 23. Jack Gosiewski 24. Jayden Sullivan

Players cut: TBC

Early Mail: Jack Bird (suspected broken arm) is almost no chance to play which means Talatau Amone will return to the No. 6 jersey. Amone started the first three rounds of the season at five-eighth and has played off the bench in every game since.
I may have my information wrong, but the club has named him in the starting team as of 400pm . However wouldnt be the first time a late scratching occurs. Fingers crossed.

DD I hope we can turn things around we certainly need to continue our recent good form and gain confidence

You do realise that there are 2 ex tigers in our squad in Suli and Woods and Mbye had a stint there too ...

The only beef I have with Rav, good player that he is, is that in general play he does not seem to be able to beat his opposite on the outside as top wingers do. Rav is lethal close to the line, but tends to drift infield a lot of the time, and attempts to run through the opposition. Even so he should be one of the first players picked. Just my opinion.
yep I can see your point KDS, my thoughts are also that RAV is not the quickest in the game but uses his power and strength to run over the opposition, but he still needs to wind up for a bit, not given a flat ball where he has no momentum.

Yes of course qld redvee I forgot about Suli, Woods and Mbye so we have the wood over them then. This game is so important to us and whilst I know that the next game against the Storm will be so much harder, we have to keep up the faith in the team to do well. In fact I know that all games from now on will all be tough, some more than others.

We can only hope that we play to the best of our ability and moreso for the rest of this year because we just have to.

Yes I think a lot of the Fijian wingers like Semi Radradra and Maika Sivo, etc need winding up as well as Rava and are good at finishing off movements with their strength.

yeah you are right DD, teams like storm and eels seem to be able to give those guys the space, just as an example look at the last game we played last year against souths i think, check out the try Rav scored late in the game and the mess he made of that young fullback, i think it was Taafe, thats Rav's go.

Ravalawa should've got the ball in that first one, not Bird. Cover always there on the inside. A good centre there drags the fullback infield before linking with the winger.
If you have knowledge of the game you say you have, watch the replay. Rava had someone in between him and was not in position to get the pass. Bird just was not quick enough to get in position on the inside but both players were well covered by Roosters defence, then the winger who was back smashed Bird.
Lomax did the right thing and the fullback was already beaten.
You cant criticise Lomax on that one..but you will try.
How is Euie going after a 60 point defeat, back to centre perhaps?

Are you talking about the break from Lomax inside to Bird when he gets hit by Suali??
