For the record that picture is from the Junior Kangaroo match against PNG that was laced with NRL stars. I don't know who it is though.

Notice the different sponsorship on the sleeves?
I thought he looked a tad unrecognisable and out of shape to be a kangaroo!

Well I'm utterly dissapointed mine wasn't marked! Considering it was before the referee blew full time. Granted, it wouldn't have made much difference unless it was worth 98 points, but I still think it's a rather poor show that articles posted BEFORE the ref blows full time aren't marked!

Ridiculous!

Frankly Cloete, I think marc would have made the same decision if this were WCC. lol. I didn't complain, put it that way.

Dilmah is spot on. The rules clearly state that the deadline is 9pm and not 9.01 or 9.02 or even 9am.

Condolences but I think you should have a quick look at the rules before you make judgement:

Full-time
-Timekeeper(s) calls full-time as soon as possible, but real full-time is 9pm according to the forum clock.

We found that stopping time just to open each match thread at 9pm was a terrible strain on resources.

marc wishes he got to decide that ;)
but yeh, Andy next time bring it up with me and we'll take the right approach to getting a resolution.
thanks to the Pirates for the game, and well done to our guys for getting the articles in given the situation of the side at the moment...

Thanks for the sportsmanship guys. It would have been nice if the Pirates team cut us the smallest slack considering our team's circumstances, Bomber in the outback and Droid missing in action for the last several weeks and the circumstances of the issue (Being one minute late but still posted before the fulltime post)

In real football games all the time the games go short and over time before the ref blows the whistle.

We have always cut other teams slack in the past and it is great to know what goes around comes around. NOT!

I contacted your captain and explained the rules for him. Basically he had an opportunity to provide an excuse and seek permission from the Pirates to allow the late submission. As far as I know, neither of these were done.

I've had no say in this decision. I actually thought the post would stand unless I made a complaint about it, and I didn't.

If we're looking for Sportsmanship, we can also take the result in our stride.

The referee did everything he could to make it as fair as possible. I know because I was asked for advice.
I mentioned a precedent in 2003 and how captains grabbed the opportunity to sort things out. But this happened immediately after the match and was done in the right sporting spirit - the captains in question got their heads together within minutes of full time.
It's a good story, and I'm happy to share it with anyone who wants to know.

Directing blame is counter productive. It's really no one's fault but it wouldnt be an issue if the post was in before 9pm... as per the rules. The player had 10 days to get the essay in, and for whatever reason, was unable to do so.
Still, no one's fault but surely, it's not the opposing captain or ref's fault.

Bottom line...
The referee tried to get the Bull's skipper involved.
The rules are clear.
He needed to mark the match.
What else can he do?

thanks Willow, this is now a non issue and hopefully this doesnt come up again, as i said to CWB in the PM i sent him there was no excuse, BroncoCloete simply missed the cut off by a minute and thats as far as it was taken with me...

Theres not really anything else to say about it and we should all just move on :)

No probs broncoman. Before looking tonight, I thought it was done and dusted as well. We've both been doing it long enough now to know the drill. Cheers. :)
