He can demand what he wants but he is a back up winger at Penrith who has played 1 nrl game and is already in the full time squad so he was not getting a pay rise from us, why would we give our 5th or 6th choice winger a pay rise? That makes absolutely no sense. Releasing has not saved us any cap space as whoever has replaced him in the full time squad will be on the same money or more given how some of our juniors are being chased.

if you made your debut minimum wage (75k i think it right now) and then had rival interest and were out of contract for the next season, you'd be well within your rights to ask for 95-110k whatever.

A players value doesn't go up because he made his debut at 25 on the wing after we dropped 3 backs for disciplinary reasons. He literally has had Blake, Dallin, Edwards, and Hiku picked before him on the wing consistently all year and we still have Mansour to come back. There is zero reason for us to upgrade his deal, the fact that the tigers are interested doesn't mean we are obligated to pay him more and the fact that the panthers don't want to pay him more doesn't mean we cant afford too, he is our 6th choice winger, if he has a better offer on the table then the smart thing to do is let him go, we probably only gave him a deal to keep his brother happy who is now locked up for the next 3 years. You are being ridiculous and flat out talking out of your ass.

You said we released him because we were feeling cap pressure, I disagree. Initially yesterday I thought the same but I realised that was stupid when someone pointed out to me he was on the minimum or very close to it. Now if we replaced him with Dylan Edwards in our top squad there is a good chance it actually has taken up more of the cap instead of saving us cap space but I am not sure who has replaced him at this stage.

Lets be realistic though, MWZ has 5 guys in front of him just for a spot on the wing and is on a one year deal, id say he asked for a release because the tigers offered him a better chance at first grade and/or a longer deal which provides more financial security to his young family, not because they offered more money. That is a fairly safe assumption imo.
