Round 9 vs Storm

The storm struggle when playing sides who move them around with quick ball, Which is why sides like the eels, panthers, sharks & manly( when Tom plays) have some success against them.

They relish sides who play structured footy suffocating them with defence.
Do we have the game to unsettle them, probably not but imo it’s our only option.
We have for 20-30 min or so.. thereafter we can’t .. I still think we could have planned an ambush against Storm and play totally opposite to what we have been doing.. especially those tackle 3 kicks downtown .. I could see their big pack taking forever to come back .. do that 2-3 times in 15 minute period and holes start appearing in the middle..

Need to try something different because what they are doing , ain't going to cut it against them .......

Sloan needs to be in the side somewhere. I can see it now….2 minutes to go...Dragons on the 40 metre line...Sloan receives the ball out wide....He throws a dummy and runs past some tired defense....He runs in…then out…Papenhazusiekndn hesitates…too late…the kid is gone...runs right past him to score in the corner…dragons fans go crazy….final score….Storm 44 Dragons 4

And then the bunker wants another look for no apparent reason and disallows the try. Final score 44 to nil for the Storm.

Plus he was hip dropped whilst putting the ball over the line but because its the storm it was just and accident and sloan is ruled out for the rest of the season :)))

Always hoping but in this case not expecting a win. Hope it doesn't blow out. 3 grinding wins would be shattered if we get blown of the park. Tigers ripped us up the middle. It was our scramble defence that won it. Can't afford to be soft in the middle against the best attacking side in the comp.
Never mind Munster and Papps the key to this game is if we dont tighten the guts Smith and Grant will tear us a new one

if Burgess is in the side, Smith Munster and Grant will be rubbing their hands together with sheer anticipation, especially if he is defending next to Macca.

Kerr is a better option than either Burgess or Sharon, he has a higher work rate, plays the ball really fast and always plays well against Storm. He was our best last time we played them 171 mtrs, 50 pcm's, 28 tackles no misses, put the rest of the pack to shame. We lost but a send off and a sin bin didn't help.

Yep it will be that fast that it wont even hurt ........ ( Smith and Grant will tear us a new one )
The thing is, the Storm have many gears to put their game into. I'm concerned when they go into overdrive, the game will be one way traffic and when they charge down the field with ball in hand all they will see are the green lights for the "systems are all go". When we have ball in hand, we see red lights and stop signs.

I just hope that we do not get thrashed and we play a decent game with no send offs and injuries so that we can back up still confident of beating the Titans the following week.

Similar to Dufty, Sloan needs to work on his defence and step up is involvement in attack. Mbye is nothing special but, he gives all in defence and most times catches the high ball and brings it back with viggor.

So, if Sloan can learn a little bit about fullback play in whilst he is in reserve grade, I feel sure he will progress to first-grade over the short term.

Based on comments from Hook that he will feed more minutes of gametime to Sullivan, I half expect he could end up as the 14 this week.
Its normal not to expose the younger players to scrutiny by naming them as late as possible.
I think it will be in place of Amone or even Bird if his injury is given an additional week to heal.

Sloan I expect/hope to see very shortly....good chance the following week against the Titans.
I think the side looks quite strong (not fast, but strong) with Bird, Fui, Molo and Maguire looking solid and powerful.
Pity about Sua's injury...we need him in the team.
Dragons to frustrate the Storm in the upset of the year.

I like your changes

Bud the organiser
Hunt to run the ball
McGuire’s work rate much higher than Burgess
Bird as edge forward

Lindsay Moss to team selection panel!

Good news is, we no longer look like a wooden spoon favourite team, our defence and energy has really improved, absolutely loved beating Roosters.
Bad news is, we now look like a team that is just making up the numbers. That’s because we know where the ceiling is with Mbye, Woods, Burgess, McCulloch etc, it’s low.
I’d love to see Sloan at fullback, Mbye back to 14 where he belongs, for starters…..
Crush, agree with what you say but Id be bringing sloan back in next week just in case storm hit top gear that could dent his confidence big time . Id consider mbye at 6 with bud at 14 - swap macca for mbye / bud in at 6 more radical bud at 6 mbye at hooker macca out injured .... Lets just try to get through sunday and then throw in some changes with an attacking 5/8 bird to 2nd row and sloan at fullback

Any of you jerks heading down to Melbourne for the game, pre meetup in the beer garden of the precinct hotel Richmond - it’s the closest pub to the venue

Would be as big an upset as when Dragons beat Bronco's in the first semi final in 2018, that day the players ignored the Coach and threw the ball around and were committed in defense, while there is life there is hope
