Both left side attacks are a class above the right side.

Could be plenty of points scored in two spots on the field.

Any doubts about how strong a club we have is on show for sure .i doubt any other club could lose there starting hooker and half and still realistically beat the storm well we can

They would run the same in opposed sessions. When Burton steps in he would do the role of the player he comes in for

Basically if Luai was out would Cleary change to Luai's role? No chance so same should happen here

Luai's kicking for distance is horrible that is 1 thing he can improve on

Why would cleary change if luai was out lol. The halfback steers the team and gets the most touches haha.

Burton should do most of the long kicking. He's got a great boot on him. Luai should be playing all over the field not just the left. He's dynamite and needs to get his hands on the ball as much as possible.

Game vs warriors were he played 7 and may was 6. May played right side and luai just roamed. He's come on A LOT in 3 years. He'll be fine and kill it.

The structures will stay the same you'd think. It takes an off season to restructure a team.

I dont think they need to change structures or game plan to much. Luai can still play left.. just instead of playing solely left can play middle and first reciever to. Burton can play right side and luai can feed it to him.

Both should be encouraged to take the line on and keep storm guessing. I think both will have a strong game.

Haha all good. The way I see it, Luai is our most dangerous ball runner. Absolutely lethal especially around tired forwards. Why would we want to just leave him out on the left when the bog boys in the middle are the ones who tend to get sloppy in defence when fatigued. Luai at first reciever can pick and choose when to take on the line or feed it out to Burton.

Hes smart enough now to know when to get into position on the left to run usual left side plays which he generally does from first reciever anyway.

Burt's should definitely do most long range kicking. Happy for Kenny to kick and back himself put of dummy half occasionally too, storm won't expect it. Luai to do alot of short kicking as his short kicking game is extremely underrated.

Why the didn't we play the same style last year then when Cleary was injured, why didn't we switch then? All the halves would have spent opposed sessions in these structures over the pre season.

We're the only team in the NRL that plays with a halfback as dominant as Cleary. Playing that Thurston dominant half role isn't something just any five eight can do, a dominant halfback is a specialist position. Of course it wouldn't change if Laui gets injured because Burton just loves sticking on the left edge. That's like 95% of where he spends his time in attack naturally.

To over simplify last year Pearce was playing almost as dominantly for a period as Cleary (was averaging like 50-60 touches a game, Cleary is usually in the 70's) but he wasn't in good enough form to pull it off so they switched back to left side and right side halves. In the modern day the dominant halfback is a dying art, there aren't many halfbacks playing like that around.
