Gower started as a Hooker didn't he ?

Came through the lower grades as a Halfback. I can't swear he didn't play some hooker in the lower grades or any other positions , it was so long ago, but the majority HB. I remember the half hype.
After we lost Freeman at the end of 95 he was talked up (like they all are) as best local product since Fittler.
We were playing Garren Casey and Gavin Clinch at HB during 96. He stood out in that wonderful upset win over Manly @ 5/8.
With Brandy coming back in 97, I remember Royce suggesting he would make a go at it at hooker, to accomadate Brandy and improve his rep changes.

Danny Buderus is another that came through the grades as a Halfback. Played centre too. With the Johns brothers ahead of him. Mal Reilly suggested he would make a better hooker.

Gosh Craig Gower was 1 tough bigger! Something to do with 7’s from Penrith,Wallace same & we saw what Nath did at back end of last yr they play with pain a helluva lot.

Thanks for that background. I can only remember Gower playing first grade. Before that I was living in the country, no pay telly back then LOL

I hold hopes that Kenny might continue to make the transition to hooker. He will be different to Api, but I think he could provide good service.

Gee I'd like to keep SOS as a 14. But I fear some club will throw huge money at him in the future.

Never mind cause TMay will be back in that position come 2023.

I think Huth Rooster does the 'dirty work' . Like others I think Spencer on the bench has great impact off it.

Wouldn't be surpised to see Spencer named in starting side then move back.

Liked the idea of Salmon off the bench.

The Dragons are a big side, don't turn easily. Need to be moved about and basically run off their feet.

Their wingers are going to be a tough ask.

I'm sure he will if Ivan has his way, as the 14 is pretty much his biggest headache currently. It all depends on media really. Maybe the Dolphins will be interested as well.

I like Spencer off the bench. More minutes would be good though, bring him on at the 20 minute mark and he stays out there as long as he can with the aim of finishing the game.
