I get that St Peter's style isn't for everyone but it is so good to see an administrator that loves RL getting stuck into AFL and RU whenever he can. Those RTS comments about Rugby Boomerang were gold.

He doesn't get everything right but it feels good to see the man in charge in touch with those that love the sport.

Greenberg would’ve wished ra well and said there’s room for both codes

Yes he would have. Or nothing like Gallop when Folau and Hunt left, shits me to tears.

I get that sometimes you need to be diplomatic and people in his position can't get overly emotional but good to see his passion for the game and a bit of fight in him.
It’s funny people say there’s room for both codes when it’s other sports trying to take league areas

when afl or union is threatened by league they cry to defend their turf

There’s no way the union players in the ab are more talented than he is

guys like Wendell sailor and lote tuqiri used to easily match it with far better all blacks sides than they have today

the all blacks literally play tests against the wallabies and most of them wouldn’t make first grade

nah

RTS may have been able to successfully transition when he was a bit younger. But as much as we all wanted him to work out in Union (although I would have rather he stayed at League), he was behind at least 2 and possibly 4 others in his position.

And there’s a big difference between the All Blacks and the Wallabies, obviously…and NZ and Australia rugby for that matter

Is that the same all blacks guys like Wendell sailor and lote tuqiri starred against ?

Reading NZ rugby writers, they say rugby took everything that made him great in league and took it away, we went from a side stepping speedster to a bulked up line running plodder.

It's actually sad for union that there's no place in thier game for a player like RTS

lol I like both codes. I would hardly say Sailor or Tuqiri were stars in Union. More attractions. The Wallabies were better then than they are now, but hardly because of Sailor or Tuqiri

Folau was better than them at Union and I didn’t think he ever really started against the All Blacks.

yeah I would say that’s fair.

I think any position in union that gives you the space that RTS thrives in (assuming he is still the speedster and the stepper that he was) requires a kicking game…or at least it’s preferable. Either that or you are absolutely explosive- which RTS probably was, but isn’t so much anymore. That’s why we are talking about him playing centre in League

They played in wallaby sides far better than today

Wendell too killed it in union and that was against all blacks sides featuring Dan carter and the other star all black half

the current all blacks are hardly world beaters they once were

I suspect it’s more to do with his league background as to why he hasn’t played more tests rather than his talent

I definitely agree that the All Blacks aren’t currently the world beaters that they once were.

And RTS was our fourth pick at 12. So yeah, a bit of a flop at Union tbh

Folau never really performed against the All Blacks. He was the best of a miserable bunch and excellent against the minnows and in Super Rugby

No mention of dell tearing the all blacks up

heck I used to watch how he played in union and he was a star

and like I said I doubt a former dally m player is really not talented enough to walk into this all blacks based on talent alone

I even remember one test Steve larkham did a bomb and the union crowd was amazed at it

Tom Wright played 4 games and only got those games due to Manly being depleted by injuries, he hardly had "a gig" in the NRL...and yet he's one of the Wallabies best. If you think anyone in the Wallabies could make it in the NRL that's your opinion and fair enough. Personal I don't think any of them would be anything more than fringe first graders...just like Tom was.
Tom Wright left as a 21 year old who’d just made his debut, I’m not sure what you expect from 20-21 year old rookies but the majority at that age aren’t solidified 1st graders. In terms of current wallabies I think it’s pretty irrefutable that the current 4th choice winger(Suliasi Vunivalu) would make the NRL and that’s not opinion but facts.

The boss of the aru actually said this about league trying to get union players, you can’t make this up :

I reckon they’ve got Buckley’s in those markets. They’ll be total snobs with league and would look down on it. But go for it.”
