Rudder and Quigley Gone?

This seems to be a hot topic on other forums.

My opinion on Sean leaving is disappointment. While he's not a "name" player and not always performed to 1st grade level I think the change in position will eventually pay-off, not that this is now likely to happen with him being released next year.

I guess the best I can hope for is that the slower English style of play will suit him better and he can build on the skills he already has and develope into a better player.

I'm upset that we have to lose Quigley I can see he will become a great asset. He appears to have the talent to become a great player and needs more time on the field which he won't get at the Knights.

I only have good wishes for both these players and hope to watch their careers flourish with time.

How does everyone else feel about this?

I think they are both players we can afford to lose.
Rudder is a guy who did a great job for the club in filling a spot when we really needed someone to step up to fill it, but he is a player who has proven he will never be better than just a firstgrader. He will never be a star. I hope he does well in England, and I hope he makes a pile of money from the English game before he retires in 5 or 6 years time.

Quigley is still improving and shows every sign of being a great firstgrader, but he won't ever be as good as Buderus, and 18 year old Michael Ennis might even go past him before this season is out yet, and will definately be better than him in the long run.

Rudder is a terrible player and can barely handle first grade. Ennis will be a better player then quigley and rudder by the end of next year, so there is no loss at all by loosing these players.

Which club will Luke Quigley be going to next year? I heard Brisbane were interested in him. Has there been any new developments? In a way I believe it is good he is leaving, as he will always be in the shadow of Danny Buderus. It is a good opportunity for him to further his talents with more time on the field as well & to become a real star of the game. Cheers ;-)

Rudder will be a loss, a player of his age and his experience, over 100 games is a loss. He is a player without blinding speed, or amazing skills but he is a decent player none the less.

On Quiggers I read in the paper (I think), that the Broncos do not want him, and that the Knights are considering signing him to keep up his 1st grade profile. This is a joke was my response and it still is. Why keep a player we dont want to keep up his profile?

I rate Ennis as a better prospect for next season than Quiggers, I rate Ennis as our best prospect period. I know Snowden is good but Ennis can play 1sts right now, Snowden is still a few years off.

I am not trying to be a smart arse, but isnt Rudder leaving the NRL?

I hate to see any good players leave the Club. I will miss Quigley.

He's not a reject, he asked for a release which the Knights were not really keen on giving, if some of you have'nt noticed by now Sean Rudder for the last 4 seasons has been a consistant player for our team, played and helped win us our 2nd premiership and as far as I know has shown exemporlary conduct on and off the field.
He like other players has had his bad games, and those quick to jump up and down on his back about them hardly never mention anything good he does in a game.
I for one will miss him.

All the best to both of them. Whatever happens they've represented one of the best teams in the best competition in the world. There's no shame in the way either of them has gone about treating their club at any time either.

It's unfortunate that Quigley is going so young, by the looks of it anyway. He's got a great workrate when he's had full 80 minute games. He's definetely shown he was another well developed hooker/backrower that would've complimented John Morris' hooker/half style perfectly. It's just unfortunate that we don't really need either other than the 4 or 5 rep games each year.

And Rudder, it says enough that when you lose another experienced cap that we now have one less grand final player up our sleeve. That team is starting to filter away already. Massive shame there considering the age of this one and the unproven qualities of the players coming through to fill the spot. The biggest shame in him leaving will be the typical 50+ year olds on the hill this week that'll still give him shit for replacing Matthew Johns. Let's just hope they don't get to too many of their kids...

Althought it's already too late for a certain somebody.

I for one don't care we got rid of matthew johns. His career was going backwards with the knights. He still had a dig out there and didn't do many mistakes, but he didn't offer the team hardly anything in attack. 5/8s are out there to set up trys and take pressure off the halfback. Rudder has done that in about 5 first grade games in 3 years and matty johns hadn't really done it since about 98.

I believe Rudder did an excellent job filling in at 5/8. Sure he had some shockers but so have a no. of our other quality players. It just seems that everybody loves bagging him. A lot of people seem to forget that we have to put someone in each position and in the years since Matty has gone, noone has stepped up to do abetter job than Ruddsy. So I'd like to be one of those Knights supporters who wishes him well , and to thank him for those games where hes put in and helped our team achieve there best.
As for Quigley leaving, its just another quality player that will add the huge no. of ex Knights playing for other clubs.

I think the Broncos lost interest in him when the Warriors contacted them saying they were letting Motu Tony go & we could have first grabs for him.

The Broncos have stated that will stick with Michael Ryan as hooker & Motu Tony can be our 5/8. Motu can play hooker & centre as well.

So he is more value for money then Quigley.
