There have been weirdos with 'business plans' for years, I wouldn't expect anything from this.

Just found it on the net.
Rugby Union is the no.1 sport in Cornwall and are the most passionate in England but there are a number of problems trying to get top flight Rugby Union up and running down there.
But Rugby League could work as Cornwall thrives in the summer yet is a ghost town in the winter.

It's definitely a good idea in principle, the priority should certainly be getting semi-pro teams from every region in England.

The reason nothing works in Cornwall is you cant get in or out of the place.

The motorway stops in Devon (or it always used to) and access into and out of the place is limited at best.

It's ok if you've got a week to get there and back - but if not forget it.

As for the locals, it's very heavily populated by Old Aged Pensioners. There are few towns. Plymouth being the only one of any size and they already have a Football Team.

I cant see Cornwall being an effective thing for anything to do with league.

That is true but Penzance Union team can get crowds of 5000 i think.

Particularly if there is rain that is anything more than a shower.
I have outlaws there whom we have visited a few times, lovely countryside but woeful access roads.
I cringe at the thought of having to drive in or out during an British summer.

So we're acknowledging that Union is their premier sport and they manage to attract crowds of up to 5,000 people.

Hhmm. Hardly setting the World on fire that.

With Plymouth now in Devon :p (thanks for pointing that out) I just cant see a Cornwall side being anything other than well.... an idea in someones mind. They would only be a part time, semi pro side at best and who do they play against? Oxford? Southampton? There's no reason for Rugby League to be there to be honest.

Unless you get teams starting up in Somerset and Devon etc and that's an awful lot of effort just to have a team in Cornwall.

Well with Super League playing in summer you would get alot of northern fans coming down for a long weekend alongside holiday makers etc.
Penzance get upto 5000 for games but that is in National League One and not the GP,but then again Wakefield and Salford getcrowds of under 5000 and yet thats Super League.
Iam sure if Penzance was in the GP and had a big enough stadium you get 10000 plus crowds easy.

On top of the Magic weekend, A trip to France, the CC final, a trip to London and a trip to South Wales. Just how much money do you think the average RL fan has?

It would be nice (and realistic) if someone could set up a Cornish team or two in the amateur Rugby League Conference South West division as that is Devon/Somerset/Dorset based (mostly Devon) and with a short season as all the players are primarily RU players. But anything above that is unrealistic

How is union the number 1 sport? It's barely on the radar

You're delusional. RU is by far the biggest sport in Cornwall, they play very little soccer (there's only one semi-pro side, until recently there wasn't even that), very little cricket and no rugby league whatsoever. The reason they don't have any Premiership RU sides is Cornwall has a low population and people are more likely to support their town/village's side than a bigger side (although Cornish Pirates get 5000, think they're the only full time pro side, maybe Launceston), there's lots of semi-pro sides though in the 3rd and 4th tiers

isn't this place the place where those psychotic Serial killers lived?

Or is that another part of England?

Fred West and his wife Rose?
