When the NRL is at 20 teams by the end of the decade with the pool of players draining RUs remaining talent, RU will be marketing that the NRL's success has only been possible due to RU... that will be RU's last post!
The union World Cup being held here in 2027 is going to be a good audition for cashed up nrl clubs to get some talent

esp with the new tv deal meaning the salary cap will boom

International travel and exposure is what you want??? Great, do you prefer PNG or NZ!

There’ll be at least one Wallaby worth keeping an eye on during the tournament who's played a bit of league already apparently. Has a minor issue with tackle height but otherwise quite handy I’ve heard.

Watching rugby 7s is like watching the matildas play soccer, frustrating.

Yawning gaps players are unable to take advantage of all game.

League players would crush them. The nrl had to change the format to 9s because players were scoring so easily.

Except the saints when the drunk was the coach. They would take 4 hit ups straight up the middle.

Rugby 7s players are Ron Massey Cup level. Occasionally there's a talent like Radradra or Warbrik.

Players on the 7s circuit get paid about 150k AUD, if NRL clubs saw any talent they could easily sign them.

Yes you're correct, league players would crush it. A league high school entered a 7s comp having never played or knowing the rules and won the competition.

That is 14 years old
Since then the GPS schools have probably recruited the best junior RL players to play for them

Keebra Park (League school on the GC) won the ARU Schoolboy 7's in 2010, absolutely trounced them. Quite embarrassing really.

Apologies, just saw taste2taste & bazza had posted the same info.

Las Vegas sounds Ok for a weekend . Much has been made of international exposure by RU.However they are not week to week tribal stuff and therefore soon forgotten. The 2003 RWC was soon forgotten & the money p*ssed up against the wall.
In the end it comes down to dollars & cents for the players.

I can tell you're not a journalist... too accurate, honest and insightful.
