Nice article that fails to take into account the game is inherently boring and a much better more exciting alternative exists.
Australians have thought this for 115 years now & will never change their minds no matter how much toffball trys to make itself look like League or who they sign from it.

"As Gus Gould quite rightly said, ‘every time they see Joseph everyone will correlate that with his return to union’.

“Joseph will be a sponsor‘s dream, he’ll put bums on seats.”

I'd almost guarantee the reason ARU didn't want Suallii straight away is so he could stay in the NRL for 2 more years generating headlines for Rugby, there's no way he can be selected for Origin, 80 minutes of free prime time advertising for Rugby...we might as well paint a Wallaby's logo on the field.

I think it's overblown. He will be instantly forgotten the minute he leaves, like all the rest of them have been with the exceptions of Sailor, Tuqiri and Rogers. He was already beginning to seem a bit overrated before he took the easy money (no shade on him for this mind you). I don't see how he's getting picked for Origin on merit at this point.

agreed
there has to be a penalty for players who use our code to increase their profile then show no loyalty

he doesn't play origin
he doesn't earn the $90K associated with it

His form is tapering off this year too

There was a similar article in the smh last week that wasn't as positive, the aru made an 8m profit but they owe 25m borrowed during covid...so they are still 17m in debt, they won't be making any profit this year ( most likely a small loss ) due to only hosting 2 wallabies games.

RA hasn't repaid the players for taking huge pay cuts during covid, the players must be idiots if they aren't kicking up a stink about getting repaid the same way AFL and NRL players did.

The future of rugby hinges on finding a private equity deal and hoping the fans come flocking to the Lions and WC games.

They took another loan from future profits from the lions tour so a lot of that future money has already been spent

So who will watch the RU WC?

I always watch a bit. Reminds me of why I like league so much.

Rugby players idiots? They are all well educated and so financially savvy, they have converted unpaid salary into RA equity... hang on, RA would have negative net tangible assets... oh well, at least they spell good.

Just $129mill revenue and a net asset base of -$3.6mill. Things are not very rosy in the old prawn sandwich brigade clubhouse!

Come and see the world! We can split the $905 grant we received!
I know it only looks that way....
