People forget you still have to play Super Rugby.
apparently you don't have to do that to get into the Wallabies
it seems the new pathway for future Australian RU internationals is

1. Play junior rugby league
2. Get scholarship to GPS school to play RU for 2 years whilst playing RL junior reps
3. Play NRL
4. Play for the Wallabies

They should just grant exemptions to wallabies to play nrl at club level then play union internationals

As with suali that’s the best way to prepare elite union players

not needed - just keep increasing the salary cap for NRL teams sustainably

rugby union will either go broke trying to keep up or have to cut wages/pro teams in comparison making the economics in RL favour
Agreed

But the reality is we need a salary cap of 20 to 25 million to attract the good union stars and for it not to be a huge risk for an nrl club

By making it outside the cap the risk factor is less if it’s a failure you still have your full salary cap to spend and not wasted on a million dollar lemon

If current trends continue, then if you are Australian and currently play union professionally then
- options in Australia are going to be limited (4 pro teams down from 5)
- the amount you get paid for those pro teams is not going up by a lot
- options to play overseas are becoming limited e.g. English RU pro teams are down to 10 from 12 and look like they are to be controlled by the RFU

In RL the salary cap is growing and the number of professional teams is also likely to increase

The only chance for big money in RU if you aren't a regular in the Wallabies is going to Japan or France (while the still get money from sugar daddies).
If you are the being ranked the 3rd - 5th best RU fullback in Australia - then it might not be such a pay cut to get an entry level NRL contract and get an increase after becoming a regular

True but what about signing some union stars like all blacks or Owen Farrell for example if he still plays union

Imagine if the warriors got a few all blacks what that would do for their marketing

there would be a few more decent players in the NRL that NRL fans had not heard of before

Imagine if the warriors got a few all blacks what that would do for their marketing
They might sell out all their home games ... oh wait

This is the funniest thing I’ve read

Hamish gets sacked
a secret 3rd party approaches him with 6 players who want to join union
Hamish can’t delivery them to union because he just got sacked
the secret 3rd party vanishes never to be heard from again

Compulsive liar ???
He'd be the type who would gladly meet up with Isack Moses

PVL can never resist the urge to bite back, no doubt there’ll be a rebuttal from the attention seeking McKlenon

“I am surprised that they’re not trying to sign Cristiano Ronaldo and Tom Brady given their attention-seeking publicity,” V’landys said.

“I would be more concerned if I was them with the $80 million worth of debt that they have created which puts the whole game in financial turmoil.”

The Australian Rugby League Commission are set to restart talks over salary cap exemptions for rugby union players at their next meeting next month, according to The Daily Telegraph.

“There will be (talks) because we have to look at some exemptions – when the credit card expires there will be a lot of rugby union players looking for a home,” V’landys said
