Why wouldnt they ?

If a rival company offered you twice the money for half the work wouldnt you take it ?

It’s a question of how many they can afford and actually want …

it’s one thing to want outside backs whom are pretty interchangeable…history tells us that forwards are harder to successfully move between the codes …

I’m a little dubious also that the dozen players have definitely signed and will be leaving of it’s up and running ... does this mean Paps intends to leave ? The Storm are still talking about re-signing him?

Because they are only talking to players off contract. Thats 12 players less for the Bears to sign.

If R360 goes ahead you can bet every player will be asking for an early release so they can go play Union for mega bucks.

So according to that Roar article, there is going to be eight franchises and 280 spots to fill. R360 can get union players from Ireland,,Wales, England, Scotland, France, Italy, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Argentina etc.

And yes, r360 can also sign players from the NRL and ESL. But i am sure there first preference is union players.

I stand by my point, regardless of how serious the threat really is, the NRL should get pro-active and stop this dead in its tracks.

If a player leaves the NRL (even if out of contract) and plays another professional sport (maybe exclude boxing given clubs seem happy for their fat lads to do it in the off season to keep fit), then they must be out of the NRL for 3 years before a new contract can be submitted.

That not only minimises the risk of players actually leaving (because they’re much less likely to take the risk, given R360 or even a career in Union is far from guaranteed), but it also removes it as a negotiation tool from the NRL player agents - it stops them being able to use the perceived option of R360 to drive up price, when in reality the player was never going to leave the NRL.

I am sure that r360 will be diverse in their player signings. For instance if they take events to Tokyo or Buenos Aires, it would be wise to have signed Japanese or Argentine players. No local players would be a hard sell.

I’d go the other extreme and let them still play nrl in the gaps it’s not on

This would also apply to the Union players they have too

Warriors Cameron George argued this approach

It’s what Union should do and not ban their players if they are smart

Good luck to jye gray if he goes. 900k usd is massive money for him

Ryan Gray the tallest, slothiest, slowest passing off the deck hooker in rugby league could get 2 million in R360.

The possibilities are endless.
