Well talking about RL, being a RL board, about an hour in the other direction from Nice is the closest RL club.. Vallauris XIII.

So doing the RU thing and all, did you go the the Vallauris XIII clubhouse when the u13's were playing, and throw a cannister of Zyklon B in the changerooms at half time?

Vallauris certainly doesn't exist any more, Cannes neither.

The nearest affiliated rugby league club is Draguignan, but they only play oztag. The nearest contact rugby league club is Toulon, run by former super league player Gaël Tallec.

I want to visit Carcassone now. I saw Puig-Aubert when he toured as an older bloke at Belmore I think. He still kicked a goal in street clothes and LollyPop intact.

The first time i visited Carcassone I very nervously - in my poor French - asked in the tourist office in the Donjon there about visiting the Rugby a Treize offices as it was the off season.

The very French very bored looking lady immediately forgot everyone else there and started excitedly talking to my wife and I for what seemed like 30 minutes while all the other tourists looked at us like aliens. Her dad played first grade and she and her family went to every game.

Afterwards we walked to the offices in town, and despite it being the off season they invited us in and we talked RL13 for ages. They had no jerseys I could buy, but i bought a heap of ASCXIII stickers.

Wonderful experience.
