So I'm guessing downloading updated rosters ala Madden 10 isn't a feature in this game?

I guess that also means the Bulldogs old logo will feature rather than the new. A game already a year out of date...

I'm gonna get flamed here for sure, but I don't think I've ever seen more pouting and whining over a game, *ever*.

Yeah, so the rosters might be a bit out of date and the logo's might be too, but at least we're getting something that a looks like an improvement of sorts over the previous games in the series.

Anyone play the EA ARL game in '96? You know the some of you think is still better than these games? Remember due to the Super League fiasco, almost half the teams had their old ARL logo's and "close, but no cigar" player names??

Believe it or not, in the big wide world of gaming, a Rugby League game is most certainly a niche product and to have anything at all is some sort of achievement. Does that mean that these guys can release a sub par game? No, and I'm sure it's not their intention, but with limited funds and limited interest they look like delivering a better game than the last two.

Anyway, there you go, flame away.....

the things you blokes get your knickers in a knot over is really petty and a little pathetic.

edit - hivemind Feej. well said, couldn't agree more.

it's not as simple as changing a few numbers.
NBA 2K10 updates rosters daily.. Granted they have a budget that these guys couldn't even comprehend it surely can't be that difficult.

If they keep releasing half arsed games and people don't buy them then we are extremely unlikely to get another game. Damned if you do.. Damned if you don't :sarcasm:

I hope this game is good and does well but I have my doubts. I enjoyed rugby league 1 but 2 had more bugs and was less fun.

it really depends on how the game is coded and what processes are in place between publisher and developer regarding changes. for example - they may have gone "gold" with the game 6 months ago and pressed 10,000 copies of it, before they even knew the delay was going to occur. they can't just make changes, willy nilly and re-press another 10,000 discs at the whim of a few fans who have the sh*ts about rosters.

the developers may need to jump through umpteen hoops and loads of red tape just to make a change to the game.

and then once everything has been finalized there is still a lengthy process afterwards i am sure.

it's all good for EA to update rosters regularly, but the reality is that yes, they have a bottomless pit of money for starters... but they are also the developer AND publisher of their own games (at least the sports games, i'm pretty sure), which gives them far greater flexibility as far as this sort of stuff goes... and they also have obviously built the roster systems from the ground up to support quick updating of any changes to team rosters... which comes back to the bottomless pit of cash.

so - as i said originally - it's not as simple as changing a few numbers and clicking "go". there are things that go on behind that scenes that, to be quite honest, the average joe hasn't a flipping clue about.

i will add that i am NOT a games developer, i'm a website developer... and as far as development goes they are miles and miles apart... but i do empathise with Sidhe on this one. you can never make everyone happy, and it's likely that the roster changes are simply above their budget or otherwise out of their control.

How hard can it be for you guys to change the roster?

Hard enough to require a large amount of testing and a required resubmission to Nintendo (which itself is quite a potential hurdle) whcih HES did not wish to undertake.

I can sympathise with those who consider the game out of date, but it was out of our hands. The last minute removal of some of the sponsors at their request didn't help matters in creating an effective 3 month delay (I guess the ramfications of player shenanigans had further reaching implications than anyone including us anticipated).

Had a go at it today.... played a 5 minute game with Dragons vs Bulls.... I actually didn't mind the game. It seemed you had more control over the players running than you did in RL2. Although I don't have a Wii, and probably won't get one, if I had one I would probably buy the game.

if its anything like the last few games that were on console then the rosters cant be updated due to a set customising limit in the game, hopefully the limit has been removed but i highly doubt it

ill be waiting till its released on PC as the Wii is... well you know

That doesn't mean that 90% of the games on it aren't utter rubbish.

I'm not saying that this will necessarily be the case with Rugby League.

In your opinion. It also works in reversve i.e. what in your opinion could be a console with 90% good games could also result in a sh*t game.

Point being, the statement is pointless.

Can't say I don't agree, but just the fact that there are so many out there and it has that casual ownership base means that a RL game might actually go well if promoted correctly to the general public.

Had a little go on saturday at EB games, not bad, though i was able to score 2 80 metre tries very easily but it may have been on the easiest setting. Certainly seems like an improvement on the last 3 games.
