Rugby Player In Tigers Sights

I have heard a whisper that the Tigers/Tim Sheens have made an offer to young Easts rugby forward Tim McGann.Whilst I can`t reveal the source,it is very reliable. As far as McGann goes,I don`t know a lot about him except that apparently Sheens got tipped off about him a while back and that he has kept an eye on him and is impressed. He plays somewhere in the back row/breakaway in union, therefore would be best suited to playing second row in league.I`ve been told that whilst the Waratahs are interested in him, their offer was minimal and haven`t guaranteed him anything, whilst apparently the Roosters have also made him an offer, but at the moment the Tigers offer is his best.

Is he under 21 ????

If he is then Salary cap exempt he becomes and I would be surprised if the Roorters would not beat our offer either way good to see Sheens looking outside the box for talent

Thanks for that Master Yoda.

I wish I had his Jedi powers then I would convince the Tigers to sign someone half decent and then play all our home games out of both Campbeltown and the Den ;-)

tim is an outstanding rugby player that has the 'wrong timing' syndrome .. big wraps on him for the last couple of years and last year he played out of skin and probably would landed a permanent contract with nsw or the act .. before his knee went .. has been really unlucky, been a standout in a weakish scrum .. that said .. if he played for eastwood he'd probably wouldn't consider the switch.

good length strength, a bullock like workhosre, is quicker than he looks and has good football brain (whether this would transfer to league is another issue)

oh .. he's 22 years of age ..

still .. i'm not sold on him playing league .. if it happens .. i hope he proves me wrong ..

How would you feel if I told you he has agreed to term's verbally and he will sign a contract this thursday evening??? ;-) But we are still waiting on an answer from the Sydney Uni prop who has'nt got back to us yet.The deadline was today.

Good news I reckon Max.Obviously he`s an unknown quantity as far as League goes, but no doubting he sounds like a great athlete and is well worth a gamble.Would be even better if Sheens could discover another Ricky Stuart though!!!

rugby players coming to league scare me, the forwards are happy to make 3 meters with the ball and cant tackle, i hope this kid is different from the rest.

I am an Easts supporter (from my name). He is an outstanding player, he went to my school, Waverley. Captained the First XV and played Australian Schoolboys.

He is one of the fittest competitions in the Waratahs squads, and is extremely strong. As for him playing Rugby League, his strengths lie in his fitness, aggressiveness and defence, he would be an outstanding player.

As for him actually making the switch, I don't know. He played a few of the Waratahs post-season games in which he impressed. But of course being behind Phil Waugh will be difficult. Some sya he will be the first signed if they bring in a 4th Super 12 team.

All I can say is hands off my clubs captain. :p
