from what i have read he seems like a standout for easts and a real leader.
Commitment, speed, youth and energy were the hallmarks of Easts victory over Randwick yesterday and all were most evident in the performance of the Beasts captain, openside breakaway Tim McGann.
The 22-year-old back-rower led by example in the 35-31 win, with an exceptional performance encapsulated in one covering tackle late in the match when the home side was struggling to contain a resurgent Randwick.
Greens fullback Arthur Little had just sliced through Easts backline, and one of the most elusive backs in the game looked set to scream away downfield before McGann accelerated in cover defence to gather him up in a superb tackle at Woollahra Oval.
McGann's clash with Lei Tomiki was a highlight of the game with Randwick's NSW contracted player also getting through plenty of work. Easts coach Michael Doyle saw plenty of similarities between the two.
"It takes two or three blokes to bring either of them down, and Tim today was just everywhere," he said.
McGann was contracted to the Brumbies before a knee injury ended his representative hopes, He is now fit and keen to concentrate on his rugby this year after completing studies in building.
Doyle believes McGann is only one of a crop of potential representative players he has in his charge, pointing also to second-rower Adam Byrnes, centres Ben Azar and Tom Freeman, hooker Stuart Geard and NSW reserve halfback Tim Clark in particular.
seems to find the try line and looks like he has tackle breaking ability, but of course that is in union and not the toughest comp in the world like the nrl.
seems promising,so hopefully he can develop into a good player for the tigers in the years to come.
just don't expect big things from him straight away.
