All these suggestions for extra time are stupid. Just go back to the draw, 1 point each. Play 10 minutes each way in finals, golden point if scores are still equal at the end of 20 minutes. Same in rep games.

Any dropped ball should be a knock on and turnover. Otherwise it's a strip and a penalty.

So if a player is fielding a ball on a kick return, drops it, and it clearly is back it should be deemed a turnover? This is League not touch football.

The only change I want to see is Referee's clamping down on dissent. If you're not a captain then f**k off. Too much chat and you go for 10. And they need to be supported by the NRL

I was really referring to general play. We have different rules now for kicks, so would probably need them here. I just hate a blatant knock on being ruled OK. Sometimes it changes a game. It is never OK to drop a pass. Ever.

kinda agree dropping a pass back or forward is poor form, but this rule would create a grey area between a drop and a tap on that misses its target

Get rid of golden point in regular season and bring back 2x10 min extra time in finals and Origin III

20m restarts to only be 7 tackle sets if ball is kicked from beyond the 30/40m line

I'd like to see the onfield refs more involved in the video review process, not to the extent of the NFL but in a similar vein.

I'd also like to see 5min sin bin back, with any player put on report taking a 5 min sit down.

Same thing. A tap on is a pass. Catch it...all good. Drop it anywhere..turnover.

That and get rid of golden point. Have 5 or (preferably) 10 minutes each way for drawn finals matches. If still drawn the match is determined by the last meeting between the sides that produced a non-draw result.

What would people think of this rule:

Instead of a 7 tackle set. When the attacking team kicks it dead, the defending team gets to start their set of 6 from wherever the kick was made. If some storm player kicks from halfway and it goes dead against the tigers, the tigers start a set of 6 at halfway. But the minimum is a 20m restart.

It kind of makes sense, and mirrors the kicking out on the full rule.

No it is not okay to drop a pass, but players shouldn't be penalised for a ball going backwards.

Right idea, but what if your going for a field goal 40 out and goes dead?? Restart on 40.... It has it's faults also..... There was nothing wrong with the old 20m restart in my opinion

Some of the ideas in here make things more complicated.

I'd like to see some things less complicated, like getting rid of 7 tackle sets.

Wrestling: No kicks for touch from penalties. Penalties are a tap restart for a fresh set (or kick at goal if you want).

Extra Time: Golden Try.

5 min. Sin Bin: For repeat ruck offenses.

Video Ref: Introduce "I don't have a f**king clue" option.

7 tackle sets: Here's a doozy. Don't start at zero. Start at one. You can kick up to five (with six and seven still remaining) but if you get tackled on six you can't kick on seven, you have to run it. If you forget and kick, it's a change over from where the last tackle was.

Golden try instead of golden point. Do not allow field-goals during the last 10 minutes of every match, so just to repeat would only allow field goals in first 70 minutes of play, due to the refs being reluctant to calling off-side late in the match when teams are usually embarrassingly going for field-goals. Also, go to 12-a-side, with 3 on the bench; 8 interchanges.

Golden try instead of golden point.

Assuming it was golden try (meaning no penalty goals as well as no field goals), you can't tell me that coaches / teams wouldn't employ spoiling tactics to prevent a try at all costs. Every new rule brought in is dissected by coaches to get maximum advantage (or minimum disadvantage) out of it.

It has to be 5 mins each way. If a team kicks a field goal, then there is incentive for the other team to score a try. Also, knowing that kicking a field goal won't win ya the game, it will also encourage teams to score a try from the start.

Your other idea is silly & complicate things. If a team elects to kick a field goal in the 80th minute to win, what's wrong with that compared to the first minute. It's an 80 minute game.

Can someone explain to me the dislike for the zero tackle rule?

Good in theory, implemented poorly.

Just like some other rules they bring in.

Should only have been a 7 tackle set if the ball was kicked dead from outside the 30 or 40.

I think the zero tackle rule has worked well.

It doesn't have to be 5 minutes each way, and it's a golden try or a golden penalty. Penalties would still be in. In the vast majority of cases if 5 mins each way, and a team scores a try early on they will run a away with it, as has happened up here.

In the 2008 Championship Grand Final between the Crusaders and Salford, it was 18 all after 80 mins, 10 mins each way, it finished 36-18. As Phil Clarke said on commentary, it should be a golden try. I agree with the former Eastern Sydney loose-forward.
