Hmmmm. How about...

No field goals in extra time. ET runs 5 mins each way, with penalty goals allowed, but it's also Golden Try.

So, if you're using spoiling tactics to stop tries, you risk going behind on the scoreboard.

If anyone scores a try, game over. If not, it goes by the score after the extra 10 mins.

For mine, we need to change the way half time and full time are done - there is always a lame tackle or a team that's behind tries miracle balls that never work. I would prefer to give the team that's behind a full set - a last chance to score. Would create more upsets and would make the game competitive until the last second.

It can be done in different ways, for example, the game ends only when the ball is out bounds, so when the team that is ahead get the ball they just kick it out.
