6-again rule promotes team domination

Revert to 5m in defence and 5m in attack rule

We need more scrum situations, but we need to remove the midfield scrum option

Remove captains challenge and video referee

Hahahahaha today's athletes with 5m would be hilarious. Penrith wouldn't concede a try all year

Most of the exciting free flowing play comes off the back of offloads.

We need to find a away for it to be less risky to throw an offload.

Changing the interpretation of the knock on rule is all my tiny mungo mind can think of.

I'd be interested to see how the attack would respond in the 20m. They'd have to stand far deeper. Not sure how they'd score if defence is competent.

I imagine it would promote far more long kicking early in the tackle count as well. Defences would be turned around constantly and fullbacks would start kicking like Union.

Hahaha why would fullbacks kick?

The fullback may well run but you end up in the same position as the opposition. Both constantly grinding for metres with only 5m for the defence to fall behind.

Penrith might grind that out but they would have to work hard to get to the red zone. Better to just kick union style and back your defence and force an error.

The point here is that it will get into RU territory and that is what we should be avoiding.

The 5m thing is no chance as we have far better athletes than that sport but I agree. The only rule I like more in that lesser version of our sport is hits in the air are dealt with properly

Why do you want to remove the midfield scrum?
Also I think captains challenge is the second best "rule change" of the past 25 years. I say keep it in maybe allow 2.

Oh great. So the final 10 minutes of a match that has a 20 or 30 point difference can take 20 minutes to complete. NFL style.

Yeah, we all want that.

I don't understand why that would be the case?
Already happens now when teams don’t find a suitable call to challenge throughout the match so make throw at the stumps type challenges because they haven’t used it yet.

The captains challenge goes against the games flow and the other rule changes made to speed up the game.

It also goes against respecting the referee and the referee’s calls. It leads to referees with lack of confidence making decisions on 50/50 calls and begging the players to challenge, “do you want to challenge? Do you want to challenge? Do you want to challenge?

Those comments are fair/true, however at the same time, in my opinion, it is the case that because of the overall positives, captains challenge is a very good addition to the game.

Are there any statistics made public that show the % of successful captains challenges?

I agree with you Matt_CBY in that it can be used by teams just taking a throw at the stumps but also can be seen as game management if it means slowing the game, taking a breather if it helps your team win the game. Personally prefer that than the rubbish dives that players take for obstructions or glances to the head and they go down seeking a penalty.

There are plenty of things the administrators can do to improve the game and make it an even better spectacle than it is now but choose not to for whatever reason.
