Rule tweaks incoming?

Overreaction as usual
Does it just have to break the plane of the 20-metre line, or land past it?

Start training to be an expert at kicking the ball 10 - 30 metres and you too can become a kick-off specialist for an NRL team near you. Get paid the big bucks for being involved in a game for 10 - 110 seconds per game.

Those windy days are going to create havoc with the kick-off tactics.

What happens if the ball goes over the 20 metre line on the full but is dropped? Or if it goes over the 20 metre line on the full then goes dead or over the sideline?

Are teams going to be penalised or do they get the ball back as per usual? If its a penalty then teams can stack the field between the 20 and 40 metre

It also means teams only have 20 metres of field to land the ball in now.

What about drop outs? Is there a restriction on long drop outs? They keep f**king the game up eith half assed rule changes
If Penrith didn't win 4 in a row, they wouldn't have to change the rules. They have learnt from the period of St George dominance and won't let anyone get close to 11 in a row again before changing the rules and the fabric of the game.

You aren’t wrong

They did bring in limited tackle football to stop the dragons

It’s a minor change, you won’t even notice it, no need to tear up your membership just yet.
Lmfao, nothing minor about it chump.

last year everyone was blowing up that the goal line drop out rule changes were going to ruin the game. Before that people said they’d NEVER watch league again when the shoulder charge and punching were banned lol
That wasn’t me. I’ve been in favour of a lot of the changes made in the game over the last 30 years.

The drop out doesn’t ruin the fabric of the game although I’d change it back. The shoulder charge doesn’t ruin the fabric of the game either.

The only negative with Penrith winning is they don’t play a very entertaining style of footy, 5 hit ups, kick to the corner, wait for the opposition to make a mistake. Melbourne also play this style and both teams are head and shoulders the 2 best teams. This years GF would rank as one of the dullest in the last 20 years.

Other teams will copy this style to try and compete, the warriors tried this season and went from one of the best teams to watch to being an absolute snooze fest, they turned SJ from 2nd in dally m voting to nothing more than a kick for the corner half back, there’s no doubt he’s retiring a early because he has no interest in playing 5 hit up’s and a kick.

if this kick off rule change adds a bit of unpredictability and more attacking football I’m all for it.

How do you see it being a major rule change ?

80% of kicks will still go deep. It’s probably the most minor change they could make to the kick off.

Have you seen the new NFL kick offs ? Thank your stars we haven’t gone down that route
The new NFL kick off rules are to create more collisions. They were sick of touchback off every kick off. From what I’ve seen so far this year it’s had the desired effect. More running the ball back from kick offs in the matches I’ve seen. I think it’s was the Super Bowl last season that saw every kick off/restart result in touchback.

Well then why don’t we copy the nfl ? Have the defenders line up on the 20m line ?

How do you see the proposed kick off rule change being such a major change to the nrl you aren't going to renew your membership ?

The NFL isn’t Rugby League.

Any effort to remove the collision from our game is an effort in changing the fabric of the game. The Fabric of the game changes and I’m out. Simple.

Were you one of the people who said “I’m out” when they banned punching and shoulder charges??

You’re right, the NFL isn’t ruby league but they are both collision sports trying to reduce injuries from kick offs.

Last season 3 marque games were ruined with KO’s on the opening kick off, the Anzac clash and 2 semi finals, on all 3 occasions the team that lost the player got flogged. What happens when a SOO or grand final is over after 1 tackle ?

You still haven’t explained how this rule is going to change the fabric of the game ? it’s a minor change and if it works we will avoid ending up like the nfl kick off.

I’ve already answered this. No I wasn’t.

Like I said, the new rule change in the NFL has added more kick returns, which means more tackles, more collisions.

I have no issues with the way it is now.

Like the first bit. It’s already been addressed. I’ve repeated myself once for you. I won’t be doing so again.

I was looking forward to a new kickoff T that was 40-50cm above the ground

So ypu could kick it full pelt into the ground 15m from the sideline and see it bounce over the defender head into touch
