Coming out in Aussie news now that it's Rog
Bugger, I've got mixed feelings. Yes, a great star and we sort of owe him some good times with us, but I also like our current side as it is, with Charnze the rock at the back.

CNK is going so well that I don't feel we need RTS at fullback.

BUT.... he's such a good competitor. Anywhere you put him it would help.

I'd be happy with RTS at wing or even centre (if we can handle the defensive decisions). He could even fill in at 6 if needed, but I can't see him playing there on a regular basis.

Our outside backs would have so much more depth if RTS comes. Webster will have the headache of figuring out how he slots in.

Did I just hear that our referee against the Roosters has been dropped. (As well as the bunker official)?

Partly right.

The NRL has dropped referee Todd Smith and bunker official Gerard Sutton, who came under fire for a series of controversial calls in Melbourne's round-11 defeat of Brisbane.

Smith will not referee any games in round 12 but is touch judge and stand-by referee for Cronulla's match against Newcastle in Coffs Harbour on Saturday.

Veteran match official Sutton, who has refereed seven grand finals, will not appear in the bunker this weekend, also paying the price for Thursday night's game.

He has been selected as an on-field referee, though, set to preside over Canberra's clash with Manly on Sunday.

Smith and Sutton received criticism after Brisbane forward Patrick Carrigan was sent to the sin bin for an alleged hip-drop tackle at a critical point of the game, only to avoid sanction from the match review committee altogether the next day.

The NRL's head of football Graham Annesley also confirmed the referees should not have awarded a try to Brisbane's Corey Paix due to interference from teammate Tom Flegler.

Annesley conceded another wrong call was made when the referees chose not to award a try to Storm winger Xavier Coates for an apparent knock-on that in actuality came off the head of teammate Justin Olam.

Reece Walsh's shoulder-charge on Olam should have been penalised and was not, with the match review committee citing the Broncos fullback the next day.

"This was a game with so many tight incidents," Annesley said at his weekly briefing on Monday.

"It played at an incredible intensity and with a great deal of physicality. And when you get those sort of games and every single play is contested, you tend to find that there's a lot more decisions for officials to make.

"And in this particular case, we've had four or five of them that didn't quite meet the expected standard. That's disappointing."

Smith's relegation comes after he also received criticism from Jason Paris, CEO of the Warriors' major sponsor, for his officiating of the side's round-10 loss to Penrith.

Despite conceding he had made errors in the Broncos game, Annesley defended Smith who is one of the NRL's less experienced first-grade referees.

"Todd Smith has been one of our real shining lights over the last 12 to 18 months," Annesley said.

'A lot of the decisions that we've looked at also included the input of the bunker. We can't forget that either. They are a team of officials.

"There's a referee, there's two touch judges and a bunker. And the responsibility of all of those officials is to try and get these decisions right. These big decisions. And in this case, we've got a number of them that we believe were incorrect.

"Unfortunately that's taken place but we now have to review performances of everybody concerned."

They will be all back next week. What a joke. Shining light? Doesnt say much for the rest of them. Laughing stock Annesley. He needs to resign. Does f**k all

The other forum saying we're chasing another reserve second rower from Souths...

Nobody mentioned he might be a replacement for Sirinon lol, he's off contract at the end of this year

Interesting. I was listening to a podcast this morning that suggested CHT was going to be a upgraded Sirro replacement.
Footnote:
I actually like Sirro. He seems a good team man and he's done a job where-ever he's been asked ... from standoff to hooker to centre to back row. Not amazing, but is generally effective. I also think that the game today demands players just like this!

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck could be set for a shock early return to the NRL after a double snub by the New Zealand rugby union.

Andrew Voss revealed Tuiavasa-Sheck, who is set to rejoin the Warriors in 2024, was not picked for the Blues’ Super Rugby semi-final, which they lost and then missed All Blacks selection ahead of the Test season, which culminates in the World Cup in September.

Given the World Cup was Tuivasa-Sheck’s main reason for his code switch, it would make since to return to rugby league early if he is not in the All Blacks’ plans.

“Tuivasa-Sheck did not make the squad to play for the Auckland Blues in the semi-finals on the weekend.

“The news on Roger Tuivasa-Sheck if you follow Super Rugby they are at the semi-final stage of that competition,” Voss said.

“He is coming back from injury and doesn’t make even the reserves list. Now he has been overlooked for the All Blacks squad.

“So effectively Roger Tuivasa-Sheck’s season ended on Friday night.

“We are in the second week of June and you have got this supreme athlete and he needs to be playing football of some type.

“I would hope it is rugby league and plenty of others would as well, so hopefully something can be negotiated. Tuivasa-Sheck can we get him back to rugby league?”

The Warriors sit seventh heading into the business end of the season and could use a player of Tuivasa-Sheck’s quality to help make a deep finals run.

However, by Phil Rothfield’s logic for signing Ben Hunt for $200,000 for the rest of the season, the Roosters could also make a play for their former star on a short-term deal, given their struggles and lack of strike in the outside backs.

If he wants to come, management should make sure it’s to us, not the roosters for a short term deal. He’s more chance of successs with us this year and won’t have to move back to Aus temporarily

Come to us for the remainder of the season, play some games in NSW Cup and see what happens. Currently, Ali & Berry are going nicely at right centre. He is nowhere near fit enough to play NRL currently, but get him playing Cup and who knows towards the end of the season.
