Heard something today too about Motu Tony but not sure of the validity

Is this the head of football position that's been rumoured? Seen a couple people mention it in regards to Tony. Thought it was pretty odd even if he is doing it for Hull.

Maybe we're looking to open up more options in regards to recruiting English players. Tony has done a pretty god job with Hull so might have a few contacts he can exploit in future.

The roster is a prop, second rower and a No 6 short, no doubt. With leavings far out weighing coming, FA junior talent deserving of roster spots + squad increase to 30 players, we should have room for several more players yet.

Hopefully the fall outs occur throughout the comp, and a couple half decent forwards get shopped.

I'd say we've got 2, maybe 3 spots at absolute most still available in top 30.If Green falls down I can't see where we'll be getting a 6 from although I could see us grabbing a value buy.

The Cronk decision is huge for a lot of clubs. Whoever he goes to has surely got to offload a player/s to fit him under the cap. They're not going to be allowed to sign him at $250k. His market price would be anything between $800-$1.2k. That's a huge chunk of the cap and several players to likely be released to accomodate. It'll create a feeding frenzy of clubs looking to get leftover playmakers.

Personally, I think he'll retire and take up a role with TV. If he really wanted to continue, he'd himself know by now.

Most would think we would know soon after world cup. But any team would take him 2 weeks out from round 1!
He still has a few years left in him. No major injuries or niggles, you are a long time retired. But guess it depends on the coin TV throws at him and if money is his motivation.

The story as I hear it is if Moylan went to Manly, Green would have been moved on to in all probability the Warriors. Looks as if Moylan is now staying put.

Eventually I think we need to take our balls out of our wives handbag and back a five eighth to partner Shaun. Tui at the Tigers looks like a chap that if he is given a season in key ball playing roles, he would learn the finer nuances which then let's the skill have an impact. I'd like to see Ata given an extended run. He's done his time in lower grades. Time to back him.

Ata is one of the most patiently developed young guys we've ever had - and that's given that he was still 20s eligible in 2017. He could easily have 40+ games to his name by now given how destructive he was as a teenager playing NSW cup.

Long term, he's the guy - and we're not contenders in 2018 so this is exactly the time to blood him so by the time 2019 (and a new coach) rolls around he will hopefully have 35-39 NRL games under his belt. Same goes for Roache, Satae & Tevaga (as a 13 - though off the bench mostly unless we have injuries) to varying degrees (Roache to start every week that he's fit unless Luke shapes up, the others off the bench - though keeping those spots depends on fixing some of the errors in their games... specifically Jazz). I want them to get plenty of games this coming season. If we had some vision we'd be signing up Abraham Papalii to a top tier deal and giving him plenty of games too - but that just isn't going to happen.

If we're signing a half I think it should be Darren Nicholls as competition (not exactly your typical rookie half) - but given what we have it seems over the top - if he would even come... he might/should be getting interest around the comp... the Dogs should be parachuting him straight into the 7, for example.

I'm happy to give Ata first crack and see what he's got. Would rather that than dropping way too much money on another spine player.

We need to get passed the idea that we need a certain half to unlock SJ. With what he's getting paid he needs to start unlocking himself.

Best thing we can do is take that money saved on Green and continue to bolster our pack and outside backs when the opportunity arises. A complete team will do more to help SJ than a single half acquisition.

Jeez we're still short of a few players - as soon as injuries strike we'll be in the shite again. If Johnson gets injured ( high chance) we'll be reliant on two reserve grade players again = more losses. We're so short of front rowers too. We know this but does the club? They're in no hurry to sign further players. 12 players going and around 8 players in?

Most clubs on a yearly basis have more players going out than coming in. Not really anything out of the ordinary there.

Definitely short a prop or two though. Agree with that for sure.
