SJ still has plenty of time left, TMM is still very young, so if you're Hingano there's no longer an opening for you moving forward and you'd have to think about going elsewhere.

Sure it's good to have guys need to fight to earn a spot, but SJ is never going to be playing reserves and they won't be signing TMM to play in ressies either. Other teams will if not give him a spot already at least provide a clearer pathway with an older half he can step in for or something along those lines.

I dont understand why Warriors want Te Maire Martin. Hes a great young player. But he doesn't have a skillset that would compliment Johnson IMO.

They are similar players with similar strengths. I could see it being an awesome combination when Warriors come up against an awful side with them running riot. But in a tight game I think it would be holding you back.

Be very interesting to see the plan though.

Yep, agree 100% - if Johnson is one of the halves (and clearly he is for a bit) then there needs to be someone there with complimentary skills

Yea, not sure about TMM.
Even though he sucked ass last time he played in first grade, mason lino has really cobe of age and I think he would compliment again more.

The Warriors' search for a replacement for Tuimoala Lolohea has led them to the door of Zac Santo, from the Canberra Raiders.

The club is willing to let Lolohea leave to join up with either Wests Tigers, the Raiders or Cowboys once they have secured a player to take his spot, covering wing and fullback.

It's believed the 24-year-old Zac Santo is the player they've targeted to bring over, if he can get a release from his contract at the Raiders.

Tuimoala Lolohea has no shortage of suitors in Australia, and would be allowed to leave the Warriors mid-season if they secured a replacement first.

Santo has played just three NRL games, one for the Cowboys in 2014, one for the Raiders last year and again in the first game of the current season, where he scored a try playing at fullback, against his former club.

Santo was named at fullback in the NSW Cup team of the year last season and was in the Raiders' squad for this year's Auckland Nines.

Clearly Santo won't be expecting to become the first-choice fullback at the Warriors, given that it's the position captain Roger Tuivasa-Sheck plays in, but he will provide decent cover for him there and can play on the wings.

Santo wouldn't be on much money at the Warriors, but if he's willing to to push for a spot in the first grade team from the reserves, while retaining a good attitude, he could be a handy pick up for the club.

Santo, who is of indigenous Australian and Vanuatuan descent, was on a scholarship with the Queensland Reds rugby team when younger.

In December 2015, Townsville Blackhawks coach Kristian Woolf, who Santo played under in the Queensland Cup while in the Cowboys' system, said he believed Santo had what it took to make it in the NRL.

" I think he's very capable of playing first grade down there," Woolf said.

"He's not a very big bloke [174cm, 84kg] but he's very powerful for his size and is very quick.

"He's probably been a bit unlucky being stuck behind some good outside backs [at the Cowboys] who haven't had a lot of injury.

"There's been plenty of players once they got that chance, they get to be a regular. Obviously Kyle [Feldt] did that and I have no doubt Zac can do the same."

mmm... as a backup he's fine... handy little player with some upside - but this guy is not exactly CNK either.

He doesn't appear to be great wing cover in the NRL, but a good fullback at reserve level. This move, if true, says to me that they're sold on CNK as a first grader... (otherwise genuine wing options who could play a bit of fullback, rather than the other way around, might be the ones thrown about) which is good. I've liked him.

Sooooo we are after Maloney again apparently. Throwing him big dollars

The Warriors are watching Cronulla and former Warriors five-eighth James Maloney's situation with interest as they look to find a replacement for Kieran Foran.

The club is weighing up their options around whether to splurge on signing up to three quality forwards to bolster their struggling pack or use the money to recruit an experienced playmaker for next season.

But if they fall short in their hopes to recruit more big men their focus will shift to signing a top shelf five-eighth to support star halfback Shaun Johnson."

At least we are looking at forwards. Shows that they recognise the problem.

James freely admits he used the Warriors as a stepping stone to get back to Sydney. I'd give up on them I think if they're that dumb that they spend two halves of hell to get him. He barely put in in his last year.
