Everyone loves aggression in rugby league, doesn’t necessarily make it a winning strategy.

The way we used him this year was more strategic, and it worked.
So whats the plan this year chief, keep kikau on the edge but just give the ball this time? Or keep using the decoy strategy

I think the order of operations is as follows:

A.) Retain current pack
B.) Recruit
C.) Use juniors (Who haven't played football in 12 months...)
D.) Move backrowers

Or a mixture of the above of course.

We haven't seen the final top 30 but as it stands we have Capewell and Burns as depth in the backrow. We just don't have the depth to facilitate moving Martin or Kikau yet.

I'd be playing Kikau at prop and leave Yeo at lock. Yeo is a good ball player I think he is the perfect lock. Big enough to be a very good defender and skilled, mobile and smart enough to make decisions and ball play a bit as well as being a big running threat.

The issue is finding an edge. but we have options which is good just wait and see what the final squad looks like

Yeo’s best year ever, makes the origin squad and let’s move his position...

I don't see anything in Yeo's game that doesn't translate to moving to Prop.
8, 10 and 13 are pretty much all the same position for most teams (us included).

I agree with those suggesting a smaller, roving style lock for next season. May or Kenny would be ideal. The increased speed of the game will suit this style of play I think.

And either Kikau or Martin will likely have to shift into the middle too. Capewell's Origin series was too good to ignore. He'll have a starting spot for sure as long as he's fit.

Assuming that Tetevano moves on, I'd be running out Round 1 as:
8. Yeo
9. Koroisau
10. Fisher-Harris
11. Kikau
12, Capewell
13. Kenny

14. May
15. Martin
16. Leota
17. Leniu

Overall Mansour isn't a loss but we might need to see how we are making meters before switching to a smaller lock

For me it depends on the final squad. If we manage to pick up a decent prop or 2. Then we don't move or if Kenny has a blinder of a pre season and want to start him.

One thing is for sure if we play the same next season we will struggle. Teams need to change it up

Yeo can play prop for sure, but he didn’t play purely like a prop this year. His passing game was a key to linking the attack on both sides of the field, he has beautiful hands for such a big guy.

Is there any difference between lock and prop?

The way Yeo played in 2020 there is. Most props don’t have his passing ability or his running.

Compare Yeo’s style at lock in 2020 to JFH in 2019. JFH played it like a 3rd prop, and he did brilliantly. But our attack needed something more, and Yeo provided it.

Did you guys seriously not see the key role Yeo played in linking the attack in both sides of the field? I’m talking about the sweeping plays. A normal prop can’t do that.

I like Billy Burns. He's 22 just. 1.91CM 103KG. He seems to be forgotten and I think he could well be used in place of Tetevano off the bench at least. Has a good side step.

I think there is an argument that he will do the same job wearing 8, 10 or 13. I'm not sure if all coaches still designate the 13 as the ball player.

Regardless I don't see his role changing at all in 2021. His passing game improved out of sight (Barrett probably) and as you said he was a key linchpin in our attack. We would be mad to change that.
