I just haven't seen his lateral movement. How quick is he to turn off the back of a couple of quick play the ball. Things like that for the new rules coming in. I'd rather have him then not but the crazy money is a gamble

Yeah im not saying we should match a massive offer for him I just think in terms of his potential I havent seen a lot of props who looked better at his age.

There are better props then Jnr. But he is maybe the most unique which is why he is so great
Look at JFH. He is awesome. But he can not bring to the table the same skills. So if your propr is a major part of your game plan your JFH style are easier to emulate. Jnr is impossible to replace and would require a new game plan.

Leinu I have not seen enough of. But I see a slightly bigger Leota/Tetavano style. He may become as good as Fonua Blake who is a weapon.
But these big guys. Teams soon realise what they are and just double up on them. Unless he major offload skills and more talent that just power I wouldnt be worried.
Unlike JFH he doesnt seem to have aggression.

He is already better than Leota or Tetavano IMO. Less errors and similar or more metres per run. He doesnt drop off tackles and like I said earlier at 19 he was hitting props one on one and driving them backwards and onto their back. He has all time potential imo, he is a special talent.

I dont think there is one type. Spencer's build gives him a low centre of gravity combined with incredible power through his hips and glutes and his short legs mean he can pump those legs quickly to keep moving after contact and he finds his stomach more often than not. Tall props are good but they take longer to get moving and are easier to hold up and slow down the play the ball. A higher centre of gravity makes them easier to knock over also, i think a mix is good but I like short powerful props like Spencer a lot. With a set defensive line ready to charge up and smash the ball carrier ill take a prop like spencer for the hitup over a tall prop like RCG.

I feel this.
A big mobile prop who is aggressive,A huge heart and intimidating like Klemmer was are the best props partnered with a skillfull prop who has a passing game and power.

The bench I like a prop who is nothing more then a worker. That is all that is needed. Partnered with a guy who is just extremely powerfull and can offload.
But most of all. I like my forwards aggressive. Everyone seems focused on the attacking side some of the best props are due too there ferocious defense.

They are trying to make the game like touch footy as far as speed wise. I guess we wait and see how it evolves over the next couple of seasons

This is a big reason why I want to see Kikau in the middle. He wants to hit people. Every time we came up against a noted big man like NAS or Papi or Jnr Paulo Kikau was running 10m across field trying to put a hit on. He would be scary defensively in the middle.

No way. 23 - 29 are peak props age. Very rare a prop is at peak by 21.
I'd even suggest 24 -28 are there best years. But with diets and fitness these days plenty are good at 30.

Why regurgitate this? We already had the discussion.

The stats show you’re wrong.

And I never said they peak at 21, I said the peak years are 21-26. The actual peak is 26/25, but the years leading up to it get progressively better. After 25 they get progressively worse. That doesn’t mean they become bad overnight, it just means in general they’ve already peaked.

Ash Taylor then...

There are many players that get stupid money from desperate clubs with very limited FG games

Comparing a prop to any half/fullback doesn’t make sense. We know clubs overpay for spine players, it’s much rarer to break the bank for a prop.

the 850k figure is fantasy land stuff. That’s 10% of their cap in a teenage prop. No way is it true.

Well look at this, Betcats.

We agree on Leniu and not moving Yeo from lock. Hell might indeed freeze over...

Junior froze in SOO. Hopefully, he is never selected again.

An underrated aspect of prop play and general forward play is foot speed. Yeo or Fish are not the stocky types of props I spoke about but they both come up with good PCT metres cause they have good foot speed. You can be low built and powerful but if you have slow feet PCT metres will be harder to come by.

That is the skill that is going to be a must going forward. It is why Murray and Radley work well despite being small

850k for Spencer - geeze thats an uphill gamble... you'd be expecting Taumalolo like stats every game for that kind of coin.

Spencer will be an elite prop in the NRL if he stays fit no doubt - but for that coin.... you become the centrepiece of your teams forward pack... id feel more comfortable giving that kind to Fish but even then id be looking to pay less....

it worked for Fifita and Cronulla but a couple years & injuries later - Cronulla would love his cap space to be used elsewhere (but being fair - he does have 10+ years on Spencer).

if 850k is being offered - you'd take that for sure - the only way Spencer earns more than that (in his career) is if he becomes the best forward in the game and that's a huge mountain to climb - could happen but unlikely

JFH is an energizier. A great stat man.
Does the hard work. But he doesn't break the line or even bend it a whole lot. Great player. But not a game breaker. Only game breakers should be paid in excess of 550k imo.
