SHARKS EYE PANTHER

Penrith rookie Corey Harawira-Naera is on Cronulla’s radar.

Market Watch can reveal the Sharks are keen on luring the 21-year-old from the foot of the mountains and to the Sharks next season.

Harawira-Naera made his NRL debut in round four, has featured in five games so far this season with three tries, five line breaks and 18 tackle busts.

Lets hope by moving on Hiku & Rein we can keep CHN.

Doesn't say he has been released yet just permission to go elsewhere.

REIN ROLLS THE DICE

For the second time in as many years, a hefty asking price has cost Mitch Rein.

Last season he was seeking a substantial pay rise from St George Illawarra who baulked at the price.

Ultimately they decided not to re-sign the No.9 and were able to snare Cameron McInnes from South Sydney.

That led Rein to Penrith where he has been running around in reserve grade and, while his form has been superb, he hasn’t been able to crack the first grade side.
His form didn’t go unnoticed by Parramatta but their interest in the rake didn’t last long, with Rein asking for $300,000 a-season for his services.

The Eels are extremely happy with how current hooker Kaysa Pritchard is developing into an 80-minute player but with only 32 NRL games currently to his name, he could use a spell throughout the season.

With Isaac De Gois sidelined indefinitely due to concussion, the Eels will look to Cameron King if Pritchard’s body needs a break.

He is not worth 300k.

It doesn't actually say he has been released. It says he has been given permission to negotiate with other clubs. There is a difference.

while his form has been superb

Okay I haven't watched much reserve grade this year, but from what I have seen, "superb" isn't the word I'd have used. "Patchy" or "average" would be closer to the mark.

Peta Hiku to Wests Tigers (according to the WW)

If everyone linked to them actually goes there they are going to need to close off half of Leichhardt Oval just so they'll all have somewhere to sit.

Rein is kidding himself. $300K? He cripples the potential of the teams he plays for.

He leaves Dragons and suddenly their forward pack is on fire. Their attack is much improved and he hasnt been missed at all.
He joins Panthers and cant get a run in the NRL side. Ontop of that the NSW Cup side are playing poorly and have been among the best the past 6 or 7 years.

Today's Tele reports TMM is on the outer with us and has been sounded out by The Storm and Warriors. He would look like a superstar playing with Cameron Smith and Slater.

Yeah the reporter is way off. From what I have seen I wouldn't use the word superb either. If his form had been that he would have forced his way onto the bench by now.

Let's just hope for a quick resolution & for Moylan to be our 5/8 next week!
That would be nice but I just don't see it happening.

Neither do I. Martin is obviously on the outer and Griffin is going back to what worked for him last year.
If Moylan is going to be picked for the Blues Griffin won't want to chop and change his halves over the origin period while Moylan is in and out of our team.
If our season is still alive end of the origin period Griffin will keep the status quo of Carty/Cleary if not, he probably still will keep the status quo of Carty/Cleary.
If it were me I would roll the dice next week and shift Moylan to 5/8. The first 2 origin games are bye rounds for us anyway.
But nothing will happen.

Moylan isn't playing for NSW. His chance at a jersey was in the halves for NSW, and it was dependent on him playing there for City and having a good showing. But after 50+ players refused to play Fittler was stuck with Moylan at fullback and Carty at 6 to fill the team.

There are 3 reserve graders in the City side FFS. Gus really helped keep atleast a bit of quality in the team by allowing 4 of our better players to be picked along with James Tamou. If he did a Des/Stuart then the side would be more reserve grade than first grade.

Being chosen for City/Country in any position usually would suggest you're not making the NSW side. Moylan might scrape into a bench spot but I hope not. He might also come under consideration if Tedesco, Pearce or Maloney is injured or if NSW get the mother of all hidings in game 1. Once again, I hope not. He is our captain and is sorely needed at Penrith.

Moylan played City last year and made SOO because he was earmarked for a spot. This year he is down on confidence, and yesterdays game saw him regain a bit of that.

Moylan will again get picked for SOO,because NSW needs to build a team around him Tedesco,Pearce (later Cleary if good enough) and a hooker (maybe Peats),if they are a chance in getting any winning momentum back.

Moylan would have improved his chances a bit for Origin after a solid game. But Pearce and Maloney will be the halves. Teddy will be fullback.

Moylan is a slim chance at utility spot. But really its only injury that gets him picked.

If he was at half and killed it I think he might have edged Maloney out. But at fullback he didnt have much chance.

Yeah that wont happen unless Cronk wants to play for minimum wage.

It would be awesome if we could pull it off. But considering the cap being a lot lower than we planned for it's hard to imagine theres any possible way we could squeeze him in

How many players you think we would need to shed? Cant be any minimum wage players as they dont help the cap at all. 3 most likely players we wouldn't want:

Hiku
Tmm
Mckendry

Lets say we got all 3 entirely off our cap. I think we would be pushing itto even have $800k between them. 2 need to be replaced with $80k players at minimum. Lets be generous and say that we had $650k to offer him... thats still only half of his market value.

Only way it could work is if we got rid of a Moylan, Merrin, Tamou or Cartwright.

Not that it will happen. But i am sure Gould could drum up a fair few 3rd Parties for someone like Cronk, and could sell what would be an actual premiership capable side (not like our current) many businesses would be happy to be associated with someone like Cooper.
