If what that western weekender article says is true then we are clearly better off without him.

But it raises other questions, most notably why was Moylan appointed captain? That was poor judgement from the administration. Yes I understand what they were trying to achieve but it was still a poor call.

They are a free newspaper so don't go for clickbait.

That is the big question comes back to Gus and hook as most issues we have does

I don't even care about who wants out or not anymore, I am that disillusioned with the way the club is being run I just don't give a f**k about the playing group, it doesn't matter who we have superdud wont get anywhere near their best out of them.

The club has been poorly run the last couple of years, that isn't just going to change over an offseason, the management team remains the same, we will see the same shoddy make-it-up-as-they-go management we have been copping. Its going to ruin our chance at a premiership with this squad, premiership windows don't last forever and ours is now. We started the year prem favourites, had by far the softest draw you could ever ask for and only just finished 7th and you have brainwashed idiots on here pumping the season up as a success.

Gould talks about building a culture of loyalty and hardwork but then releases talented players at the drop of a hat(punts and releases good coaches also) and lets this dud make Moylan who as it turns out is the laziest and least professional(if the article is correct) of the whole young squad our captain. It doesn't even come close to making sense, it is indefensible imo.

Very interesting read. If it is read as true then we have come out of this for the better.

Yeah still lots of if true. Though the Herald had a story that Gus had lunch with May, Edwards etc. I dare say plenty of those meetings were had.

For me compare Edwards and Mansour's recovery to Moylan's hammy. Mansour was on track the whole time due to treating it well. Edwards missed only one week with a 3 week injury. The players would see all that

I give this rant 5/10.

Who said this season was a success? 9 teams below us would kill for this season we had. If this is the worst season we will have then happy days

A bit of depth.

Panthers reveals new recruits
Panthers has bolstered its squad depth for 2018 with a quintet of player signings, headlined by the recruitment of former Bulldogs winger Tyrone Phillips.

Phillips joins Jayden Walker, Chad O'Donnell, Adam Keighran and Joey Peato in taking up one-year deals with the club.

The 23-year-old speedster scored four tries in six NRL games for the Bulldogs and has represented Fiji on three occasions.

Walker, 21, is the son of former NRL prop Shane Walker and joins Panthers from Cronulla Sharks.

A mobile backrower, Walker played for the Australian Schoolboys in 2014 and was a standout performer for Italy at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup.

21-year-old playmaker O'Donnell won an SG Ball premiership with Sydney Roosters in 2014.

He played 32 games for the South Sydney NYC side in 2015 and 2016 and reunites at Panthers with his former halves partner Liam Coleman.

Capable at both five-eighth and lock, Keighran progressed through the junior grades at the Bulldogs and represented the Australian Schoolboys in 2015.

Last season the 20-year-old scored nine tries in 19 games for the Bulldogs NYC side and also made three appearances in the Intrust Super Premiership NSW.

Peato joins Panthers after an impressive season on the wing as Campbelltown City Kangaroos won their first Group Six premiership in 34 years.

Phillips, O'Donnell, Keighran and Peato have already commenced pre-season training with the Panthers squad while Walker is enjoying a short break following his recent World Cup commitments.

Making Moylan captain was just a bad call. You win some and you lose some. I can see what they were trying to do here, but it just didn't work.

Sure in the past we have let quality players go, Lewis, Jennings etc (we all know why they are.

At least this time Moylan was replaced with a player of equal or better quality.

To be fair people are saying finals twice as a mark of success, including yourself. Thanks for the article, very interesting and definitely makes it look like he was an unsettling force in 2017.

Here you go

http://westernweekender.com.au/2017/11/why-matt-moylan-had-to-go/

They are usually spot on and have contacts. As I said the players would know more then even coaching staff in most cases

I'll believe mates who have played under him but carry on

In light of the Western Weekender story above, there must either be an alternate team in an alternate universe or one of you is making things up. Care to name your player mates?

Tom.

We have made the finals the last 3/4 years. Did something Penrith teams don't do and made the finals 2 years straight. When you factor in the disrupted year it was a good year.

Looking at the year in isolation it was average. Struggled to beat good teams couldn't get settled through injuries etc. Most on here see the good and the bad that is a point lost on some. Not all bad and certainly not all good

Decent depth. NSW Cup squad i'd assume ruling them out of FG this year so should excel at that level and could be good options for 2019 should form hold up

So Gould talks about a culture of loyalty & hardwork, then punts the bloke who isn't loyal or hardworking? No way, who'd have seen that one coming?

Well if the article is correct he did the right thing. How much of a disruption to the rest of the team is a player like that. I hate typing this because how much I liked him.

In light of the Western Weekender story above, there must either be an alternate team in an alternate universe or one of you is making things up. Care to name your player mates?

That's fair. It certainly wasn't what we should be aiming for or satisfied with.

Nor was I. I am sure the players weren't either but lets look at it. A team with Edwards, May and Cleary in the spine won a semi final. Tedesco, Brooks haven't even played a finals game. So all perspective things could of been far worse but Top 4/PF would of been succesful

Lol.

Yeah thought about that too.

Seriously there’s no need to ever speak in such absolutes like he does, he looks stupid when he then goes and signs several players.

It makes it look like he’s just winging the whole thing.

Good teams find a way to win. The back end of the year we had so much pressure on us and could of fallen away and we didn't. That toughness will help us in coming years

The last 6 weeks when we had to win. We had out at various times

Moylan
Merrin
Blake
Latu

Our starting half gone elsewhere mid season too.

That is 5 players there from our top 17 out.

Every game from The Warriors we were ending teams seasons. The reverse would of happened if we lost them so while not a success it was a pass

To be fair all will be NSW Cup aside from Phillips but still a dumb statement to make
