Can only keep one of Staines or Laurie take your pick can’t keep both.

The Sg Ball fullback is highly regarded Sunia Turuva. Watched him a couple of times before there season was ended, another potential freak in our ranks.

I am so proud of the development program Gus and Matt Cameron installed and now Matt carries out. Sure beats playing over the top dollars for established players.

Staines makes more sense than Laurie. He’s more suited to wing in the short term, and Laurie probably won’t get any minutes in the halves if we re-sign Burton.

Pretty much this. Staines looks like a fantastic prospect, but could be very injury prone. Maybe just bad luck, but I wouldnt be spending big to keep him at this stage. Hopefully he at least waits until next year to make a decision so we maybe get a better look at him. I dont think the offers will dry up if he holds out for a bit. I want a good look at Laurie as well.

It's funny thinking back to this time last year. We were crying out for a signing in the outside backs. Now we are spoilt for choice. A few centre options wouldnt go astray though.

I can’t tell you Sunia’s precise dimensions but he is bigger than both Staines & Laurie, quick, elusive, seems to have all the attributes to make it in the NRL.

He’s a freak! Hopefully he keeps developing

To me he does look something very special. Shame the junior reps were suspended because if Covid would have like to have seen more of him. He is fair game for all clubs I’m not sure we have him locked up, I could be wrong, but he featured in a schoolboys match the other day and I read there is a queue for his services so not sure how it will pan out with him.

It's certainly looking good. All the bullshit Gus copped about the "5 year plan" , but this was his real plan all along. Regardless of some of his more questionable decisions, this one was genius.

There is a report that his family home was destroyed in a fire. Their home was a rental, however, their contents were lost, and not insured. I hope the Panthers will match the money raised.

Their are a few centre options in the juniors none will be as good as Crichton though

Ivan made some very astute acquisitions for this season but yes this is the squad Gus built and it should not be forgotten. He did an amazing job with our junior pathways & development.

Neither probably stay long term. Edwards is improving so won't lose his spot.

That is the issue with a young side. The 'senior' guys are early 20's it makes it hard to keep them around too long as depth

That whole Ball team is stacked. Hopefully we hear soon enough what is going on for lower grades next year

That was never the issue with Gus it was why did they lack in the last step of development and the crazy contracts he gave out

As well as Edwards is playing, I don’t see him as an automatic to keep the spot. Injuries alone will mean someone else gets a look in, and once they do all bets are off. Edwards was lucky Aekins was the backup this year, automatic return to the side. It won’t be as easy if he gives Staines, Laurie or even Burton a look in next year.

Not sure we have as much depth as appears. Whare and Mansour are close to the end, if we lost Staines who else plays wing in the future? That’s not clear.

We’ve got depth in the halves & fullback, but not much at centre or wing.

I agree but those behind may not see it that way. He is 23 and looks far better than last year. Another year of development who knows.. So you wait and see

Weigh that up against getting a certain start for a lowly team and some huge money.

Most times the 2nd option is taken

Pay the guy his dues, he built this squad which has us sitting at the top of ladder.

Just suck it up and accept he did a great job for the most part.

The contracts around Moylan, Cartwright, RCG, Blake etc didnt cost us anything. They became surplus to requirements and were able to be moved on with little pain albeit for some we are paying part of there salaries or were.

I didn’t see too many on here complaining when he locked up RCG for his fat 5 year deal. I did at the time and was shot down and bagged for it.

Regardless, this is the team that Gus built whether you accept it or not..

The side is a mix of Gus and the new. To'o, Naden and a few others weren't even in the squad while Gus was here.

The signing of the year Api was Barrett/Ivan. The Biggest change was Barrett himself brought in after Gus.

We are paying Parra $500k or so for next couple of seasons to get RCG/Blake off our books. So it is costing us that

Where didn't I give Gus credit? The juniors. The sponsorship increase is all good from him.

A few other things aren't. We got as far as we could with Gus in charge. Moved him on and made a few changes and here we are

They’re not all going to leave immediately. I’m sure at least one of them will sign past 2021.
