"Like any player, I have ambitions to win a premiership and play State of Origin and Test football. I need to grow as a player, so I need to be in the best environment to make that happen."

then his decision makes sense, Souths don't develop Origin players, not for a long time anyway.

Funnily enough, the whole reason to persuade players to re-sign with us for less than they could get elsewhere "well you could sign for (team x) for more money, but do you want to wind up like Roger Tuivasa-Scheck and not play finals football for a long period?".

Look at how it wound up for RTS at the Warriors. Has not played finals football since he left us, and unless major changes happen at the Warriors, will be unlikey to anytime soon.
