Good point, can we please clean this thread up?

I think we should keep O/T stuff to a minimum now guys, we all had our fun, now it's time to actually keep this thread clean unless signing stuff pops up.

Point taken.
The Herald is reporting Issac Luke is now on the long list of rumored halves. I bet we get a tonne of halves interested if word gets out we are giving high class escorts away.

Yes, and here it is for those who haven't seen it.

http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/parramatta-eels/eels-in-the-frame-for-luke-20101023-16yi1.html

SOUTH SYDNEY superstar Issac Luke is considering knocking back a mammoth offer to remain at the club for the next five years in favour of linking with Parramatta.

Luke is contracted to the Rabbitohs for next year and Souths officials are desperate to extend the stay of perhaps their most influential player until the end of 2015. Souths owner Russell Crowe has a track record of getting his man and it was believed the diminutive hooker was set to put pen to paper once his Four Nations commitments were completed.

However, sources in New Zealand have told The Sun-Herald that Luke is close to Kiwis coach Stephen Kearney, who was recently appointed to oversee the Eels. While signing a long-term extension with Souths is an option, it's understood Luke could put negotiations with the foundation club on hold with a view to playing under Kearney at club level in 2012.

Should he go on the market, Luke would be one of the most sought after signatures in the game. The 23-year-old won the George Piggins Medal as the Rabbitohs' best and fairest earlier this month and was in contention for Dally M medal honours before a shoulder injury.

Kearney chose Luke on the interchange bench for last night's Four Nations encounter with England in Wellington, with Wigan's Thomas Leuluai chosen to start at hooker.

Kearney replaced Daniel Anderson at Parramatta earlier this month, with Eels officials believing he could tap into the vast pool of league talent from across the Tasman. However, in a recent interview with The Sun-Herald, Kearney said it was important he got the gig because of his achievements with Melbourne and New Zealand rather than his bond with Polynesian players.

Asked if he was the NRL's first Polynesian coach, Kearney replied: ''I'm not 100 per cent sure. For me, I'm a coach first and I know for a fact I got the coaching role on my merits.

''I think Tony Kemp might have been [the first] at the New Zealand Warriors. [Laughing] Hopefully, I'll still be a Polynesian coach in two years time.''

As revealed last weekend, Parramatta is ready to pounce on Johnathan Thurston should North Queensland cut the playmaker. The Eels, desperate to sign a quality halfback for next season, are also continuing discussions with former Manly No.7 Matt Orford, with a release from English club Bradford the biggest sticking point.

There is also a rumour somewhere that Danny Weidler apparently wrote or was involved with, claiming that Thurston was actually considering going to the Eels but it won't happen now.
The article states we are now very close to signing Matt Orford again.
It also completely puts an end to any of the Thurston rumours (not like they had any legs to them anyway).

I stopped reading there

What do you mean Twiz??
When Issac was on form this year, he was easily the best player in the NRL. If he hadn't of been injured, I would bet you anything Souths make the finals and Luke is Dally M medallist.
On form, he's the best hooker in Rugby League.
He's probably Souths best player.
:)

Wow Boxy's behaving like a moderator already. I find this hooker talk pretty funny, keep it up guys. This thread needs legs... it's just 130 pages of gibberish 'rumours' may as well spice it up a bit with regular gibberish.

Articles quoting the actual player carries more weight then some bullsh*t source.

Isaac Luke pours water on Eels

Isaac Luke says he owes it to South Sydney to re-sign with the Rabbitohs despite the Parramatta Eels' hopes that his close relationship with their new coach Steve Kearney could persuade him to switch.

Luke (right) says he won't make a final decision on his future until after the Four Nations, but told the Sunday Star-Times last night: "I was a nobody until South Sydney found me. It's only fair that I stay with the club that helped me through the hard yards and really helped my family out.
"I wouldn't look past going to Parramatta because Mooks [Kearney] is there, but on the other hand, Souths are like my family now so it would be really hard for me to leave. I would think about playing my career out at Souths . . . my heart is with South Sydney."

It will be a significant blow for the Eels, who hope their recruitment of Kearney will make the club attractive to Maori and Polynesian players.
Luke is contracted to Souths for 2011 but the club want to extend and upgrade that deal until 2015.
The 23-year-old won the George Piggins Medal as the Rabbitohs' best and fairest earlier this month and was in contention for Dally M medal honours before a shoulder injury.
