someone posted on the other site that another Parra player wants out and don't know if it was a coincidence but someone mentioned something on twitter.
Can someone correct me here if I'm wrong. Reddy hasn't been offered a contract by Parra, does that not mean he's been shown the door and he's not the one quitting

Reddy is not "quitting" we just haven't offered him a deal for next year, and as such he is looking at other offers.

the revised offer from our club is actually a very smart ploy because it will make souths having to answer to the NRL about how the kid knocked back such a large amount to stay..

once it's announced that he's staying the NRL should ask a number of questions to souths regarding the deal lets hope for their sake they come out smelling rosier than they did with the Inglis deal.

Sonny Bill Williams a target for Sydney Roosters

  • EXCLUSIVE Brent Read and Stuart Honeysett
  • From: The Australian
  • May 04, 2011 12:00AM

NATE Myles' likely departure from the Sydney Roosters, and the impending retirement of prop Jason Ryles, has cleared the way for last year's grand finalists to launch a stunning bid to lure Sonny Bill Williams back to the NRL, possibly next year but more likely in 2013.

The Australian understands the Roosters have made discreet inquiries with Williams over the prospects of a rugby league comeback - three years after he walked out on the Bulldogs mid-season to play rugby union in France.
Under the terms of his eventual release from Canterbury, Williams, whose contract with the New Zealand Rugby Union expires at the end of this year's World Cup, was banned from playing for another club in the NRL before 2013.
Bulldogs officials made it clear that the only way they would relent on that agreement was if they were paid a release fee.
Given that agreement, and the fact no NRL club including the Roosters is likely to have the money to compete with rugby union until the game's broadcasting deal is renegotiated for the 2013 season, a more realistic scenario would see the 25-year-old head to France for one final pay-day before returning to the NRL.

The Roosters shape as serious contenders should Williams decide his future lies in rugby league, although they are likely to face strong competition from Parramatta, where New Zealand national coach Steve Kearney is in charge.
By 2013, the Roosters and Eels could be in prime position to make Williams one of the highest-paid players in the history of the NRL. The first piece of the jigsaw will be the television deal, which could see the game's salary cap rise as high as $6 million.
Should the NRL and its clubs receive the windfall many are predicting, the Roosters could afford to pay Williams upwards of $1m a season with the prospect of even more should third parties weigh in.
The second piece of the puzzle is Myles. The Queensland forward has already held talks with the Gold Coast over his future and The Australian understands he is also in the sights of Newcastle and Parramatta.
Although he has a contract for next season at the Roosters, it is understood he has been negotiating with rival clubs on the basis that he can join them in 2012 .
The Titans' ability to sign Myles next year will be contingent on whether Anthony Laffranchi decides to take up a new deal or accept a mega-offer from English club St Helens.
Ryles is also weighing up whether to return next season. Although he has an option in his contract, there has been speculation he could retire at the end of this year.
The final wild-card is five-eighth Todd Carney. Carney has a contract for the next two seasons but is currently in the hands of medical experts.
The Roosters have also been linked to Williams' former New Zealand teammate Adam Blair, but it is understood they are not realistic contenders for the Melbourne forward.
Instead, Parramatta and Wests Tigers are leading the race for Blair, although the Tigers could find it hard to make room for him.
Before leaving the NRL, Williams was regarded by many as the best player in rugby league. He is quickly taking on similar stature in rugby union, having starred for the Crusaders in the Super Rugby competition.
Elsewhere, South Sydney halfback Chris Sandow delayed a decision on his future yesterday amid speculation Parramatta had increased its offer.
Souths officials were hoping Sandow would announce that he planned to stay with the club but his noncommittal topped off a devastating day for the foundation club.
Earlier, it emerged star forward Sam Burgess would miss the remainder of the season after surgery on his ankle revealed damage worse than first thought.
"Burgess underwent an arthroscopy yesterday and it was found that he had ruptured the ligaments in his ankle, requiring a screw to be inserted to stabilise the joint to enable it to heal correctly," the club said.
Rookie winger Kane Morgan will definitely miss the remainder of the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.

Junior Sa'u set for new deal with Knights

BY BRETT KEEBLE
04 May, 2011 04:00 AM
POWERHOUSE centre Junior Sa’u is poised to sign a new two-year deal with the Knights, which should help ease the disappointment of missing New Zealand selection for the Anzac Test against Australia at Skilled Park on Friday night. The 24-year-old backline tackle-buster has attracted interest from several rival NRL clubs, but his manager, Steve Gillis, said yesterday that Newcastle were the only club he had formally negotiated with and he hoped to finalise a deal by the end of this week.
‘‘There’s been some progress and I’m confident of a resolution shortly,’’ Gillis said yesterday. ‘‘I’m confident that all going well it will be done by the weekend.’’
Negotiations with Sa’u and other Newcastle players coming off contract were put on hold during the process leading up to Nathan Tinkler taking ownership of the Knights.
Sa’u’s future was further clouded by Newcastle’s interest in Canterbury and newly capped Australian centre Jamal Idris, who rejected the advances of the Knights and Bulldogs last month by signing a five-year deal with Gold Coast Titans.
Idris’s decision on April 12 came the same day the Knights announced Wayne Bennett had agreed to a four-year deal to coach Newcastle from November 1.
Knights coach Rick Stone said the club’s recruitment and development manager, Keith Onslow, had handled negotiations with Gillis but that Sa’u had been made aware that Bennett wanted to keep him in Newcastle colours.
‘‘I’ve had a good chat to Junior, and I’ve left all that in Keith’s hands, but I know the coach is keen for him to stay,’’ Stone said.
Gillis indicated last month that up to six other NRL clubs were interested in Sa’u. Parramatta, coached by New Zealand mentor Stephen Kearney, were understood to be leading the chase.
‘‘We always knew where we were headed with our negotiations but it’s just been a bit of a process,’’ he said.
‘‘We haven’t spoken to any other clubs ... there’s been a lot of interest in him but he hasn’t had any meetings with any other clubs.’’
Gillis said Sa’u was keen to stay at the Knights, who he joined from Canberra’s lower grades in 2008. He has gone on to play 65 NRL games for Newcastle and nine Tests in the 2009 and 2010 Four Nations campaigns.
Sa’u played in New Zealand’s successful Four Nations tournament last October and November but sat out the Kiwis’ 16-12 victory over Australia in the final at Suncorp Stadium due to a corked thigh suffered at training three days before the game.
The Knights said Sa’u was not available to be interviewed yesterday but Stone was surprised New Zealand selectors overlooked him for the Anzac Test.
‘‘I thought he’d played pretty well in the last three weeks and he was sort of the incumbent, I suppose, so I wasn’t quite sure exactly what the coach was thinking,’’ Stone said.
‘‘Usually the incumbent seems to get a little bit of grace there, and I thought he would have got picked.’’

Cleal is also hopeful the club can retain the services of boom youngster Will Hopoate despite reported interest from several clubs including the Sydney Roosters, St George Illawarra and Parramatta.
"Naturally we are, he's a great talent, only 18 years of age and he's certainly a shining light for what's coming through the system," Cleal said.
"All I can say is we'll be in the mix and hopefully we can re-sign him and continue having the Hopoate name associated with the Manly club."
