Just looked on the sharks sub forum - They had mentioned ben hunt and adam reynolds too. I'd say the sharks are interested in anyone and everyone

Maybe not but it's still money that could be used elsewhere. Toutai and Goodall are cheaper and have more potential.

I don't get this, it's not like Sio is 30...

He is still young, and for mine is our best winger and I think will be for years to come (if he doesn't leave)

Its clear what BA wants. Two strong powerfull wingers who can make meters. He rates this higher than safety and finishing IMO and why he rates Semi and Toutai and Goodal as better long term options.
Im ld school I go for safety and finishing first and the rest is a bonus.

The things he does well can be taught, whereas things like speed, strength and power are largely determined by the time a bloke hits adulthood.

Of course physical traits can be improved with training and diet (and just time for a bloke in his early 20s), so what I mean is that comparatively the player is able to show much greater increases in technical ability, knowledge and confidence than speed and strength.

Sio is more experienced in wing play than Vai Toutai, and because he has played more than two full seasons he is more confident. But Toutai has him well covered for size and strength, and I suspect he's quicker as well. Sio isn't going to get much better (if at all) but Toutai has plenty of improvement in him.

There's also the simple fact that having the most competitive roster doesn't mean having the best player at each position (which is impossible under the cap). In fact, sometimes you're better off having the cheaper of two options at a position so you have more to spend at other positions where it's really needed. After all, how good does the winger outside Will Hopoate really need to be? Sio has scored 11 tries in 10 games outside Hopoate but Toutai has scored 4 tries in 3 games (as well as 3 tries in 5 games outside Morgan).

Vai Toutai can get the job done, and the difference in price could mean the difference between retaining Hayne or Hopoate (or anyone else). Don't forget Toutai is likely to be fighting Goodall, Faraimo and possibly John Folau for the vacant wing spot next year. The staff obviously believe some merkin will step up over the off season, and he'll do it for cheaper than Ken Sio would have.

Those big wingers are also able to jam in and force an error or at least wrap up the ball in defence. As for safety, that's something young players can learn. Ken Sio has learnt it; there's no reason the others can't learn it too. In fact Vai Toutai has improved massively since last year - he started 2013 as an under 20s centre.

With Sio going, Hunt will be Hayne's backup.

Next year, it is probably better putting Hunt on the wing so he can work on comeraderie and get used how the team combines.

Hayne has had a good run this year but at 105 kg running at the speeds he does as well as changing directions and being a target for the defense, he will bound to get injured

So essentially, Sio will be replaced by a Sio clone in Hunt.

At least he's not polynesian

Since Casper put me on to SeeYou I always look forward to watching SeeYou caress the football as a lactating breast while diving over the lawn to score a try. The feel of a woman's breast being squeezed firmly under his chest must be exhilarating for SeeYou. His partner is very fortunate. Women can see that SeeYou is a MAN who loves and respects women.
