Watmough is a total waste at $600 000. So many other players better then him at that price or much cheaper. E.g. Kade Snowden makes an average of around 130-150m and around 30 tackles a game and would definitely be better value money wise. Also for that sort of money I'm sure we could have picked up Ryan Hoffman who has been twice the player that Watmough has been this year.

Eto Nabuli could prove to be a very good asset. He is very very quick, big and strong and great under the high ball. If he has worked out his defensive issues, then he should be a walk up start to play 1st grade.

I really hope we don't waste money on Watmough, Matai or DCE. Watmough and Matai are both just about washed up and would see their next contract as a retirement present while DCE is nowhere near worth the reported 1 mill a season. Behind a pack like ours he would be just as ineffective as he has been over the last few weeks.

Does anyone think that maybe the decline of Manly in the recent weeks may have more to do with the disharmony than players being "past it"?

They have been able to be successful with board room issues but this year is the first year that we have heard about players wanting out, especially on mass??

Penrith have too many young jnrs too worry about nabouli.Mansour and DWZ are both young and wont lose there spots.
So I wouldn't be looking at him as not good enough. You would think he will be fighting for the other win spot with Vai and Goodal and Faraimo.

Do we still want Watmough for $600,000?

Yes considering someone like Tony Williams is on $600k too I think we have the better deal with Watmough. He brings good experience in and off the field. Plays through injury. Tough bloke that our young guys can learn from

Yep. We're not just paying for playing ability. We're buying leadership.

Watmough for mine was still one of Manlys best last night.

And he was injured.

Our pack needs an experienced leader, and watmough is the best that is available.

I'd take Watmong but not for $600K

I don't think he will cost us $600,000. Not for his first year anyway. $450,000 at the most if the cap issues we have are true.

He has put off surgery since the middle of the season and has been playing injured. His aggression and line speed in defence is what we lack. What he can teach our young forwards is another thing.

Watmough is a leader. We need that in our pack.

An off season rest along with surgery will help him.

NSW and Australian Rep. Even for two seasons I don't see why anyone would be against it. A better signing that can actually improve our roster.

Bingo.

He's a competitor that hates to lose and will not tolerate mediocrity.

A few years ago I wouldn't have contemplated wanting to see Watmough at our club. While he still has a few loose screws the bloke has grown as a player and a leader.

Personally even at $600,000 he is value to our club.

He would be as important as the Canterbury Four were to a young side.

Apparently there's only a 10% chance of getting him. ;-)

Hindy hated to lose and didn't tolerate mediocrity either but it didn't stop us getting a wooden spoon. I'm assuming he's coming, so I guess I'll have to support him regardless of how much I can't stand the merkin!
I'm pretty sceptical of how much pride and effort he'll put into a jersey that doesn't have a Sea Eagle on it. I think it's always a risk taking on a player in the twilight of their retirement that has achieved everything in the game. It would be great to have him if he takes on the responsibility and shows some leadership but there is just as much of a chance that he could take his paycheque and coast into the final years of his career. I can think of better ways of spending $600k.

I agree. The only reason I can see for signing Watmough is if we are seriously in the market for Foran or Cherry-Evans. Three years ago I'd jump at Watmough for that money - but not now.
