When i first mentioned that Tonga deserves a lot of credit for the season Semi was having i was laughed at. I agree with you that since Tonga has been injured Semi has suffered. But i think Champion can fill the void.

When have i said there isn't holes in this squad? of course there is but we haven't really lost anyone of note that will impact the side much at all. Younger players will be promoted to fill the holes.

I was going to reply but than i couldn't be bothered lowering myself to your low standards, the season isn't over yet and you are worrying about no major signing news. Why would a side currently in the 8 let us announce a signing while they were in the middle of battling for a top 8 spot? especially when its a "massive" signing as you are talking about.

But continue whatever agenda it is you are on.

double/don't even know what i actually did

Well if these signings are for Wenty fair enough. The Duke of penrith did the same thing.Have a look at the wolves.
If MAtterson is too play in wenty and Kaysa you want them in competitive teams to help them develop. Much harder if there in a weak reserve team.
I wouldn't be surprised if tanginoa was cut due too so many young guys in his age.And who know there maybe a few 17/18 who the club has huge wraps on.And we don't want too flood the team with a bunch of kids.

As far as next year-Santi-M.Ryan-harrison where here start of year and probably part of top 25.

Quick one Pou if your top 25 is in the cap.And lowest paid is 90k. Can you than have 10 guys in Wenty on 85k?

Danny Wicks: On the subject of Russell Packer, Paul Kent said that clubs should not get ahead of themselves trying to sign him when he gets out of the big house in Jan 2015. He said that whilst the Broncos have their pen ready, the NRL are unlikely to register his contract because of their new dickhead policy. Accordingly, there is no guarantee that Wicks will be permitted either (or ever), same goes for Carney & Ferguson.
.

I think the difference is Wicks has been suspended by the NRL for 4 years (. http://m.smh.com.au/rugby-league/le...ned-by-nrl-for-four-years-20110520-1ewf4.html) which will be served before the start of next year.

The others have not yet been penalised/suspended by the nrl. It would be almost legally impossible for the nrl to refuse to register a contract for Wicks after he has already been punished.

I think you can but you can;t use them all in first grade because the 2nd tier cap is 440k (i think?) and 10 times 85k = 850k

Just on two issues from above which were discussed in part on NRL360 last night:

Danny Wicks: On the subject of Russell Packer, Paul Kent said that clubs should not get ahead of themselves trying to sign him when he gets out of the big house in Jan 2015. He said that whilst the Broncos have their pen ready, the NRL are unlikely to register his contract because of their new dickhead policy. Good luck to them enforcing a life ban, particularly for Carney, as he has generally been the only victim of his idiocy (drunk driving crap aside).

Has anyone actually seen mcpherson / cody play ?

I haven't seen them play but it appears both players can play a few positions.

Regarding mcpherson according to wiki, he can play anywhere in the pack bar hooker - this is a pretty valuable skill for a player, especially one that has a fair bit of nrl experience.

Also it appears cody can play in the halves and forwards.

I reckon the coaching trust has made a fairly strategic move, in that they wanted to specifically sign a couple of depth players that can play a few positions.

Also all the arguments about they are wasted signings, look at some of the signings storm/manly (best sides of the last few years) have made over the years, some would appear to be terrible. For example manly, they have serious depth issues at prop, so they signed Lawrence who had only played 18 nrl games before his 28th birthday - and he has turned out alright. Mcpherson has played nearly 100 nrl games.

Who laughed at you over Tonga?? Most of us on said he was doing a solid job but his best work was the early ball he provided Semi which was why he was the form winger in the comp. A lot of people on here also wrapped tonga for his work early in the season.

You were the one big noting yourself over inside info of all these supposed signings, because I had the gall to question DA and what sort of job he is doing. All we have signed so far is two plodders on two year deals and Champion who I have stated was a smart buy.

All we keep hearing is how our cap is blown out but we will be fine next year only to have the same lines trotted out again. Just because you have a few contacts at the club doesn't make you any more of a fan who rightfully questions were out recruitment is heading. Sue me for not all buying in with the big love in, El D rightfully slammed them deluxe in his thread and he copped it for having the hide for bagging a team that simply gave up. Not everyone blindly gets their pom poms out and cheer just because that's what real fans should do.

But you can use five of them ($425k) plus an NYC star (generally on no more than $20k). Most teams use 30 in a season, meaning five second tier players. After that they seem to need special permission to field new players. Though I'd say most teams plan to use thirty players anyway (e.g. we have thirty listed on our official site, with no distinction between the top 25 and the rest - in fact, considering four of this year's top 25 are allegedly playing for other clubs we have nine second tier players listed in the NRL squad).

But even with a full top 25 (as we should have next year) there is still a need for more than five players outside the top 25 on your books. Having more than five gives more versatility, plus provides opportunity for NYC graduates with NRL potential the opportunity to continue their development by training fulltime as they play NSW Cup. Plus they add some emergency cover to the NRL squad.

Again i agree with you on Tonga, i don't understand why you keep going with it..

And again the season hasn't even finished, i think you are going off way to early, that may be a problem for you. The good clubs make these types of no-name signings every year, there really isn't a downside at all in signing them but the potential of huge upsides.
Seriously only our supporters would be up in arms about minimum wage signings.

When have i ever stated i'm more of a fan than anyone else on here? Yes i get information told to me, but if you have read things I've said before i don't come on here and gloat about everything i know, in fact i very rarely write what i am told because i am told it by people who trust i wont go running my mouth about it, and i won't.
I had PMs sent to me when i first mentioned signings will be made and asking for names but not once did i mention any.

I am a fan first and foremost i am just lucky enough to know a few people (thanks mainly because of family) at the club and get told things.

I only re- mentioned Tonga after you said people laughed at you for saying what a good job he is doing. As I said most people all thought the same.

As I said the other week if we manage to Snare Whatmong after offloading Kelepi I will admit I was wrong and the club have done fantastically well. I am wrong often so I and used to admitting when I am wrong.

It's like no one can criticise the club or DA or BA on here, no matter what they do. When they do wel I praise them but when they don't I air my opinion rightly or wrongly. I am just so sick of hearing excuses about our cap year after year. People on here were even making excuses about that display on Saturday there should never ever be any excuses for a performance like that. The top clubs don't and neither should we.

I reckon Watmough is a fair chance (like 50-50).

This would be why Paulo hasn't re-signed. I think we're just waiting on Manly to let him go, which won't happen while they have games to play. Hopefully they're out in week two of the finals.

I am just so sick of hearing excuses about our cap year after year.

There are two ways the cap can be f**ked - either from releasing players but still having to pay them (especially inside the top 25) as well as paying their replacements, or from having large back ended components. Both are caused by chasing instant success, which you get from a series of new coaches with no job security.

The only way to 'fix' cap problems like this is to accept a year or two without major signings as the back ended contracts run out. And stop sacking merkins just because they're overpaid.
