As good a player as Foran is...

Foran for $1.2 million a year, or Norman for $300,000?

Tbh I think we'd be better off long-term with the latter...

Problem is Norman is on $450k not $300k and Foran is not getting $1.2m out of the cap, more like $850k from the cap and rest in sponsors

6-foran

Or vice versa. One thing we don't lack is quality juniors to put around guys like Foran. Add to that even if 1.2 is correct we don't know how much is under the cap.

Foran is the kind of marquee player that attracts players, too. Guys will sign or re-sign with an up and coming side (which we finally are again) with the likes of him on the books for less.

True.

I hope the news is correct.

Not a huge difference between $300,000 and $450,000 given my point, but I see what you're saying.

difference is another 50% and he's rubbish

I can't believe people want to see

6. Foran
7. Norman

Please name me a game last year Norman won for us....ZERO is the answer.

Foran is the perfect partner for Sandow. Foran can steer the ship while Sandow does his thing

Problem is Foran's no superstar.

I didn't think so but I'm beginning to suspect he might be. While I contend all of Manly's players are individually overrated (because they are mostly still very good players, and have had the luxury of all playing together), it's a fact that since 2011 Foran has had a series of shitty edge forwards on his side, and Manly's middle forwards have been pretty average since 2013 too. He has still looked very good in that team.

On top of that there is his defence, which is outstanding for a half, and his leadership is increasingly becoming clear. About the only area in which he doesn't excel is his long kicking game (admittedly a fair loss if we're swapping him for Sandow). But the guy only turns 25 this year. For a playmaker he's not even at his peak

How about some good forwards and outside backs and some so-so halves?

It's like we won the lottery with Hayne leaving and we immediately plonked it all on a horse.

I agree Foran represents a significant risk if he is signed on the kind of money being reported. But if you don't play you can't win.

With forans contract don't forget we still apparently have a fair bit of cap space available this year due to hayne leaving. We could easily use its to front load Norman/Sandow contract (and extend) and foran's half partner would cost bugger all.

If we have indeed signed Foran, interesting to see who Misses out. Sandow or hoppa.

If sandow is retained Norman goes to fullback. Will probably come down to $$$ and who we retain without bustling the cap.

I think Norman has more than enough skill for fullback but I don't think he's physical enough. Then again, neither is Moylan and he goes alright.

If you're talking about man-of-the-match I can name you one this year.

If you're talking about single-handedly winning a game, not even Jarryd Hayne could do that. It's a team game and Norman plays his role well.
