I know it is early days, but I would go as far as to say that we haven't had a coach at the club that has had such a great rapport and knowledge of the game since the days of Gibson and Fearnley. That quote from Brad Takairangi that Forty20 posted a few posts up, was like music to my ears.

“Brad Arthur is awesome, he’s such a good coach. I learn something new every day under him. You hear a lot of people talk about how good he is but you don’t understand until you’re actually coached by him.

“I know I had one of my best pre-seasons.”

I mean how long has it been since we can market our coach as a truly major selling point when recruiting players? The only coaches that are ahead of him now on rep are Bennett, Hasler, Robinson and Mcguire. And that's because they have all been head coaches longer then him while working at the best run clubs, with the best player rosters. If he starts to get us into the finals and then GF, he will be of equal attraction in the eyes of most NRL players.

Note: I left out Bellamy because I think players from other clubs can take him or leave him. I think most players go there because of opportunity, money and to play with the big three. I could be wrong on Bellamy, but it is just a feeling I have about him.

I mean think about it, besides perfecting boring football and the wrestle, what has he shown as far as tactics go? He has had some of the best footballers of the past decade in his squad to execute a very simple game plan. And now what has he got left that the big three are coming to and end?

This is why he has also stated that when his current contract ends he will probably call it a day. Surprise, surprise, the big three will also be retiring or very close to it by then.

For mine, he is a one trick pony, Super fitness, don't pass the ball, and wrestle, wrestle, wrestle till it hurts. Oh and did I say, when all else fails, CHEEEEEEEEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But back to Arthur. I haven't heard our players rap our coach like this in years, Not even Brian Smith. Who all players would praise highly for his knowledge, but as we all know, very few actually liked him or wanted to play for him.

As Arthur gets older and wiser, I can see him having that coach/father effect that Bennett has/had on his young charges.

Finally a coach I have confidence in.

Also did any of you guys notice how M. John and Fletch grilled Hindy with questions like, "what is it with Arthur?" "why do players want to play for him?" and "what has he got?". It was almost like they hated it that Parra has a coach like that and they were shocked that we do. It seemed as though, for them, they are so used to us being coached by non-desirables and now the order of things has just gone haywire.

The problem though was that, Hindy gave a feeble answer which I can't even remember. But if Hindy was more of a thinker on his feet, he could of really done a wonderful marketing job for Parra and Arthur and shut Johns down in particular with all the cheap shots he keeps getting away with, with no return fire.

Now lets just hope we can hold on to him and give him all the support he needs to get the the next level.

Looks like the propaganda war has begun. Manly will be planting the seeds of doubt in Foran's head and mind f**king him for another 10 rounds.

Merkins.

they were already doing that, they're now just shooting themselves in the foot by going public and trying to weigh public pressure on kieran as a last resort tactic

first priority is to sack Anderson

Why? That will just mean that the club is giving into external pressure and rumour that there's something going on behind the scenes. If there is absolutely nothing to those rumours we won't do anything, if there is something I'm sure it will be dealt with accordingly.

Personally I don't think there's anything to these rumours. If Anderson wanted to be a head coach I'm sure he could find another position somewhere else.

I am no DA fan, but was told by someone that knows him well that he has no ambition to coach again and has not approached anyone for a gig

I reckon I can see BA calling Matt Johns out if he continues with his Bullshit against Parra and BA.
Matt most likely doesn't even know BA. It's only a matter of time before someone gets stuck into Johns.

Where there is smoke there is usually fire. He has never been anything special, to the contrary, there has been much said about his dislike for some sections of the community. So I say, why risk it? Clear the decks and give Arthur his own man that HE helps in recommending to the club.

Using that logic then, Arthur is as good as gone. With our injuries and the teams schedule, we'll be lucky to win a game for a while, so he is gone based on the smoke you refer too.

How so? You need to remember, that there are people in his corner too. But what it means is total board room disharmony and unrest again, while these faction, whoever or whatever they are continue to exist.

All I'm saying is IF people like Sharp think that Anderson is a hindrance to a happy and stress free environment to both the playing group and the coaching staff, he should try to encourage Anderson's removal for everyone's sake.

But hey, what do I know. But like I said, smoke, fire. These RUMORS would of died ages ago if there really was nothing there.

Cast your mind back to most persistent rumors in Rugby League and if you're honest with yourself, you'll agree most end up being true.

There definitely are behind the scene problems and issues. Lets just hope we sort them out for once, quicker then later, or we could find ourselves without a very promising coach and all the upside he brings with him.

Agreed x 2
Why? There's absolutely no reason why we need to change our structure.

It all seems to be working well based on Arthur's first year, and the comments coming out of the players this year, and the recruitment we've been able to achieve.

There was a really good article this week somewhere about why many clubs have moved to a Director of Football paired with a Head Coach sturcture - it had a lot o do with guys like Hasler at Manly and Stuart at Parra having total control over everything and then f**king their clubs over when they jumped early with no notice. The Director of Footy - Anderson role - is a safety mechanism, to provide stability for a club.

It would be rarer that two people in those leave a club at the same time, and therefore the club can at least ensure some continuity during the period following a coach (or Director of Footy) moving on. Better than throwing all your eggs in the one Head Coach's basket, as we found with Ricky.

I think your comments on Bellyache are harsh. I don't think I have ever seen a coach in the NRL get more out of rubbish players than Bellyache. You could create an entire team list of the most average NRL players in history just from the Storm system
