Souths have re-signed Jason Clarke and Malcolm Webster.

They have also signed forward Josh Starling from Illawarra Sports High.

David Tyrell also re-signed with Souths but is too old for NYC next year.

So as far as i know, according to the Roosters player contracts page

Allan Heldsinger - off contract
Anthony Cherrington - under contract till 2009
Antonio Winterstein - off contract
Ben Cronin - off contract, linked to Cowboys
Ben Jones - signed till 2011
Daniel Randall - off contract
Dominique Peyroux - off contract, linked to Titans
Galu Teo - QLD Reds?
Jake Friend - signed till 2010
James Tamou - off to Cowboys
Javarn White - signed till 2009
Luke Towers - signed till 2009
Mark Talanoa - signed till 2009
Matthew Hall - signed till 2009
Martin Kennedy - signed till 2010
Mose Masoe - signed till 2010
Rohan Ahern - signed till 2009
Sandor Earl - off contract
Stanley Waqa - signed till 2010
Tom Symonds - off contract

Most of the players re-signed should move into the FG squad. Roosters have re-signed the most promising of the forwards, though Peyroux was a very handy utility in hard times for us this year, and Tamou was arguably our most consistent prop. Ryan Williamson from SG Ball also re-signed long term, and will be in the FG squad.

However, Ulysses Fahina, who was seen as a long term prospect, is in trouble for the kicking incident.

ROOSTERS FG TEAM IN 2009 (assuming Mini retires after this season)

Sam Perrett
Amos Roberts
Iosia Soliola
Mitch Aubusson
Shaun Kenny-Dowall
Braith Anasta
Mitchell Pearce
Mark O'Meley
Riley Brown
Nate Myles
Willie Mason
Setaimata Sa
Craig Fitzgibbon

James Aubusson
Anthony Cherrington
Lopini Paea
Frank-Paul Nuuausala

NEWTOWN JETS

Jake Hawkins (halfback) Country U18s captain - Melbourne
Josh Dutton (lock/hooker) Country U18s rep - GC
Scott Blanch (fullback) CHS rep - Manly
Sean Russ (five-eighth/centre/lock) - GC
Shae Collins (backrower) Country U18s rep - Cronulla (not confirmed)
Joel Jackson (centre/wing) - Cronulla (not confirmed)
Nick Ehsman (backrower) - Roosters (not confirmed)
Blake Keeping (prop) Country U16s rep last year - Parra
Matt Nean (fullback/half) Country U18s rep - Cronulla
Jay Chatfield (backrow/prop) Country U18s rep - Roosters ( I think)
The last three are more likely to just play Ball next year as they should both be elibigle.

If you are posting a Confirmed Signing could you please add a Source.

If it is only a Rumoured signing then of cause you don't need it sourced.

Boyd Cordner has apparently been signed for 4 years by the roosters.
He is a 16 year old who got one bench game for the Knights HM side in the last game of the regular season when several guys were rested.
He was picked for CCC and was one of the youngest guys at the schoolboys championship in Darwin where he apparently went OK (his brother Dane, an SG Ball regular for the Knights, played for the public schools team in the same tournament).

Anyway - huge rise to fame - about 10th choice forward for the Knights HM to roosters NYC squad.

Boyd Cordner is a freak!!!! he played harold matthews a year young in 2007 and was their star player!!! their best forwady easily

Missed this years matthews season due to injury and was suppose to be fully fit for the grand final! but they fell short by one game

he is an absolute gun.. and i wont be suprised if they dont play him in sg ball next year and play 20's

Eight players from Canterbury's two National Junior Cup teams have been offered contracts or trials with NRL clubs.

The deals have been brokered by player-manager Frank Endacott and the former Kiwis coach said he had been inundated with approaches from NRL scouts about players from the Canterbury 18-year and 16-year teams.

The list is led by Canterbury 18s centre Slade Griffin with the West Coaster securing a three-year deal from the Melbourne Storm.

Halswell fullback Tyler Jarden has a two-year deal with the Cronulla Sharks and Sam Kelso has a one-season contract with the Parramatta Eels. The pair were key players in the Canterbury 18s team which contested last Sunday's NJC grand final.

Canterbury 16-years stand-off half Penani Manu will be with Cronulla for three years and scrum-half Jamie Nuttridge will trial for the Sharks.

Endacott said Canterbury 18s scrum-half Sean Scott and West Coast utility Ethan Negri have been offered trials at the Warriors. Negri, a wing in the Canterbury 18s, will probably trial at hooker, where Endacott believes he has a better future.

Canterbury 18s prop Phil Nati has left this week to join Parramatta's 10-day training camp on the Gold Coast. "They'll play three trial matches and if he impresses, he will be offered a contract with Parramatta," Endacott said. "But if he doesn't go there, I have a two-year contract offer for him from another club."

Endacott said NRL scouts had also been interested in Canterbury 16s loose forward Scott Clarkson, "but he damaged his shoulder in the first round" of the NJC championship.

The latest signings follow in the sprigmarks of Halswell hooker Matt McIlwrick, who went to the Canberra Raiders this year on a three-year deal, and Rulon Nutira, from Hornby, who is contracted to Parramatta.

Both are playing in their clubs' SG Ball (18-years) teams and Endacott said McIlwrick "won the player's player of the year award".

Former Canterbury Bulls backs Chippie Korostchuk and Darren Tonihi were placed with the North Queensland Cowboys this year through Aranui coach John Rangihuna's connections.

Endacott said NRL clubs had sent scouts to watch Canterbury's 16s and 18s this season because they now realised they needed to spread their New Zealand nets outside Auckland.

Raiders re-sign Waddell

rd22tc.jpg-08db3e7c8ebcb5960f58bd7c0efb7d77.jpg

The Canberra Raiders Toyota Cup team has had a timely boost ahead of Sunday's Grand Final against the Brisbane Broncos, with the announcement today that hooker Travis Waddell has extended his contract with the club until the end of 2011.

Waddell, 19, has been one of the stars of the Green Machines assault on the inaugural Toyota Cup in 2008, and his solid form has seen him earn a contract extension and a place at the Raiders for a further three seasons.

Originally from Proserpine in Northern Queensland, Waddell arrived in Canberra at the start of the 2008 season, and has gone on to stamp himself as the premier number nine at the Toyota Cup level.

He said the chance to remain with the Raiders is something he was excited about, and was keen to continue the success of the Toyota Cup team into 2009.

"I'm settled here in Canberra now, it's a great place to live and I'm really enjoying my footy too," Waddell said. "The club have pretty much re-signed all of this years Toyota Cup team, so hopefully we can stick together next year."

During the 2008 season Waddell was called into the Raiders NRL squad due to the mounting injury toll at the time, and said it was an experience which improved his game immensely.

"Getting the chance to train with the top squad this year allowed me to learn so much and I was able to bring that back to the Toyota Cup side," he said. "Now we're in a Grand Final and hopefully by Sunday afternoon we'll be the champions."

Raiders CEO Don Furner said Waddell's development as a player had been the biggest factor in his re-signing, and said he looked forward to seeing him continue his rise at the Raiders.

"Travis is a tough player who plays above his weight but mixes it with the bigger players," Furner said. "We definitely have him in our future plans so we've made sure he remains with us for at least three more years."

Kids' uncertain future

The NRL has been crowing all season about what an outstanding success the under-20s competition has been, and the quality of the Broncos-Raiders grand final suggests it has a point. But there is growing concern about what will happen to the truckload of players who will be ineligible to play in the competition next year because they are too old. Some player managers are privately predicting an exodus to rugby union because there won't be enough positions in the NRL or NSW Cup. The slide has already started - Dragons twins John and Maurice Kennedy have signed with Warringah rugby union with an eye on a career at the Waratahs.

He Wants To Be A Bronco

The tug-of-war for one of Mackay's most prized signatures is expected to end with teenage sensation Dane Gagai linking with the Brisbane Broncos.

In what has been a clamber of the codes, rugby union and rugby league officials have been scrambling for the services of the talented 17-year-old.

And although he is captain of the First XV rugby union side at Brisbane Boys College (BBC), Gagai is leaning towards the Broncos after declaring his passion for league.

According to father Ray, a local league legend who was also recruited by Brisbane in 1989, Dane "is expected to sign up with the Broncos," who have had their eye on him for almost two years.

"He was approached by the Queensland Reds and the ARU (Australian Rugby Union) also came on board but Dane told them that his heart is with rugby league," Ray said yesterday.

It's believed the North Queensland Cowboys were also keen to snare Gagai after offering him a scholarship but the fleet-footed centre is eager to remain in Queensland's south-east.

"His cousin Josh Hoffman is with the Broncos too and I think he likes it in Brisbane," Ray said.

Despite admitting his preference for rugby league, Gagai is yet to put pen to paper and is in the process of getting a manager to help with negotiations.

"Nothing's changed; he's still pretty much in the same position as he was a month ago," mother Tania said.

"He hasn't signed up with them (Brisbane) yet and is still having discussions." Gagai, who played junior league with Souths, has excelled on the paddock and in the classroom at BBC, joining a list of students on the school's honour board for his academic achievements.
