Blade has already stated the 750k is not the figure
Let’s just get some of these signings out there .The front rower will be the interesting one There must be some up coming kid at another club that wants a chance rather than a Cleary love child like packer .Ava seems to be aligned with the sharks

You won't get it, Jane. Unless you see the contract with your own eyes it will just be a speculative figure.
The club originally offered $500k, the manager may have sought $750k. I would like to think they met somewhere in the middle. We haven't really heard of any other clubs putting in a serious offer.

I do have some trust in Matt Cameron.
Yeah I know that, I meant if he is staying or going. Sorry I should have made myself clearer.

The previous GM was heavily criticised for the long term and big money contracts given to RCG and Blake and appears we are going down the same path with young Crichton. Long term deal paying overs. Cant have it both ways.
I do not take any notice of the regurgitated diatribe that the papers spew.

Jane, I was very vocal on here expressing my opinion we were making a big mistake resigning RCG on big money long term. Other than Panther DAZ I had no support. The deal was done, RCG played crap and when the new regime came in he was shipped of to the Eels and we will continue to pay a portion of his deal for some time yet. It was arguably the poorest piece of business done by Gould in his time at our club. I thought Waqa Blake was going to be something special, not unlike Stephen Crichton. However, there were red flags with Waqa Blake’s attitude given his being dropped for breaking curfew getting on the drink, turning up to preseason hugely over weight and I am sure there were other issues. Despite which Gould resigned him on a four year deal which backfired as it turned out. So sadly two gambles that back fired on us big time. Let’s hope Stephen Crichton justifies the big money and long term contract and it is a gamble that pays off for us for a change.

You had my silent support with RCG. Also, it is just speculation with regards to Crichton. All the papers do is regurgitate old material, and people are talking it as fact.

Honestly wish we had just withdrawn our already generous offer to Crichton when he decided to milk us for every cent he could and went harder to keep Burton.

$500k for Crichton was generous and paying for potential. Certainly not undervaluing him. But he would rather milk us for every cent he can even at the expense of us having to shed his
teammates.

After one season of NRL i just dont think he's worth it. Each to his own though. I just see us heading in the same position we were before Gus joined us. We definitely need more guys like Luai and Yeo then we do like Crichton.

I agree I think $500 was pretty generous given his limited appearances. Given the circumstances I guess we had no option but to increase our offer, but I truly hope his deal will not be in excess of $600K that would be madness. The same applies to Staines he has been resigned on really good money on the back of 100 minutes of NRL footy, it is a risk despite his potential.

It is apparent his new deal is going to be somewhere between the original offer of $500K and the media figure of 750K. Hopefully for the sake of our salary cap it is in the vicinity of $600K and obviously he would receive a significant upgrade on his existing salary for 2021 which would have been minimal (not minimum).

Given the way this off season post GF has played out, all the outgoings and obvious pain around our salary cap you’d have to think Dylan Edwards could be the next one pushed out the exit door early even thou he only signed his latest extension this most recent mid season. Staines and Crichton likely to be on more money than Dylan so it probably makes sense for one of them to take over at fullback. I rate Dylan but has had his injury issues having only managed 59 games across 5 seasons, albeit his debut was very late in 2016, so probably for seasons is more accurate.

We are vastly under strength in the front row. Still think we are a class prop and a back up prop short. Plus I think we are going to miss Mansours work load coming of our try line more than some people on here think.

Fully agree. As someone said in another thread we need another middle to do the pig work.
Given the budget we won't get much.

Yeah I think Mansour's metres are over rated. Sets aren't going to just stall because of him being gone. We have one of the best kick returning fullbacks in the game and Brian To'o is a young Mansour in style of play.

I don't know Murray. The Sharks only have 2 spots left in their top 30 and are skint.
They already have 7 props in their top 30. Fifita, Woods, Hamlin-Uele, Rudolf, Royce Hunt, Pele, and the new buy Tolman.
Plus Martin and Vasquez as development players.
I don't think they need another prop.

Is it overs? What says it is overs

We had a record breaking year.
He was our leading try scorer.
Was Dally M centre of the year
Made SOO which Blake didn't do anytime while here

The fact he is 20 to go with. Puts his value up. I have heard more like $650k instead but lets compare him to others

Joey Manu $700k
BJ Leilua $600k
Nick Cotric very limited centre $600k

Crichton and Staggs look like being the NSW Centres for years to come.
Staggs is also off contract and of course they put $750 a season to him... Like Crichton he won't get that but it will be a good gauge to test market value.

So I see him as being right up market value comparing him to others
